While frustration over the quality of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition continues to be everpresent, that hasn't stopped many of the Grand Theft Auto franchise's biggest fans from embracing the game as it is. It's an opportunity to revisit three classic Grand Theft Auto games, considered some of the best action games ever made. Yet even dedicated Grand Theft Auto fans aren't immune from encountering frustrating issues, like a recent wave of trophies and achievements not completing as expected.

A wave of players have been posting about their frustrations with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition failing to recognize when an achievement has been accomplished recently. The issue doesn't seem specific to any one game in the trilogy, or to any single achievement, though some do seem to have a bigger problem than others. The issue hasn't been officially recognized by Rockstar, either, so it may last some time yet.

Specific trophies/achievements that have been mentioned include "Chicken of the Sea," which tasks players with shooting a seagull, "What the City Needs," which deals with vigilante levels, "South American Connection," tied to the Supply & Demand mission, and even Vice City's "Grand Theft Auto" achievement, which involves retrieving wanted vehicles from Sunshine Autos Import Garage.

Responses to questions regarding whether these trophies/achievements are bugged or not have been mixed. Some have said that they received their achievement randomly sometime after completion, while others have said that if they start a new save and complete the achievement again it works. Some think the issue might be related to how using cheats turns off the ability to acquire achievements, with the system bugging out even when an achievement has been earned normally.

The big question is whether or not these issues stem from the recent update for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Patch 1.0.3 arrived 10 days ago, and the wave of trophy/achievement issues have been shared since. It's possible the issue comes from prior and the timing is just a coincidence, however.

As patch 1.03 shows, at the very least, Rockstar is actively working on fixes and improvements for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Normally it just takes time for bugs to be investigated and then fixed, but it's possible that these issues are so rare that they're unsolvable, too. The most Grand Theft Auto players can do if they experience a trophy or achievement issue is making sure Rockstar hears about it through social media.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
