The Hallmark holiday Valentine's Day is often posited as a reason for people to spend extra time with their loved ones, and many video games with multiplayer aspects offer events for those couples to potentially take part in. For example, Niantic's Pokemon GO is adding Munna and Musharna this year for couples to discover on their walks, and today Rockstar Games announced a number of things in Grand Theft Auto Online will be geared toward the February holiday.

Of course, players do not have to be active with other people to receive the bevy of bonuses and discounts over the next week. The online component for Grand Theft Auto 5 updates regularly with new content, for instance introducing a VETIR truck earlier this month that many fans believed was a teaser for Grand Theft Auto 6. Today's update post is the same idea, just gussied up with Valentine's Day-specific events.

Two major areas will provide players with triple the GTA$ and Reputation Points (RP) this week: "Till Death Do Us Part" Adversary mode and "Shotgun Wedding," both of which can be accessed via the "Rockstar Created" tab in the Jobs menu. Players can also receive double GTA$ and RP by completing DJ Missions, which were added soon after the Cayo Perico Heist update last December.

Meanwhile, every nightclub will offer players free Champaign this week, a Buckingham Luxe Tee is available to those who complete any Heist Finale, and a red Vapid Dominator GTX muscle car can be won via the Lucky Wheel at The Diamond Casino & Resort. All Valentine's Day-related content in Grand Theft Auto Online is 30 percent off in shops, and players can receive additional discounts such as 40 percent off on all Nightclub properties.

Regardless of whether people want to take advantage of this content with a significant other or not, the consistent updates being rolled out by Rockstar are clearly a boon for the online game. GTA Online reached its highest player count on record in 2020, and it's possible the game could continue to peak as it officially releases on next-gen consoles down the line.

Other deals have likely helped Rockstar grow its playerbase in GTA Online, with anyone who links their Rockstar Social Club account to Prime Gaming able to receive a free sonar station for the Kosatka submarine this week. Those who feel love in the air but don't want to spend time in Grand Theft Auto have other options too, with GOG currently hosting a Valentine's Day sale that affects over 2,500 titles.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
