Grand Theft Auto 5 may be almost two years old, but that hasn’t kept it from maintaining a place among the best selling games this year. Granted, Rockstar Games didn’t roll out Grand Theft Auto 5 to PC until recently, but that doesn’t make the game’s success any less impressive.
One would think that two years after release Rockstar would leave Grand Theft Auto 5 behind and focus on their next project, but the developer has shown they’re dedicated to supporting the latest GTA for a while yet. In fact, Rockstar today announced at least two new free DLC packs coming this summer to GTA Online that will provide new cars, weapons, and clothing options for players.
The first of the two additions, dubbed Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1, will be available for everyone on GTA Online next week. And based on the below list of new items, the DLC looks to be for those players with expensive taste. Below are the new items coming with GTA Online‘s Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1:
- Eight vehicle wraps for the high-end Enus Windsor
- A gold version of the Buckingham Swift Deluxe helicopter
- A new Combat PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) coming to Ammu-Nation
- A new classic-style car known as the Albany Virgo
- New gull-wing doors for the ever popular Pegassi Osiris sports car
- A gold version of the Buckingham Luxor Deluxe airplane
- Hundreds of new clothing items and accessories at exclusive clothiers
- The Pegassi Osiris coming to Legendary Motorsports

The new line of high-end items should be welcome additions among those GTA Online players who have completed the game’s recently added heist missions, especially those who acquired the heists bonuses. It’s always nice to have extra spending options after robbing a few million bucks.
The additions should also provide motivation for those players who have been away from Los Santos for a time. Aside from new content, these new purchasable items are likely the best way to encourage gamers to come back to the game.
The timing of these releases seems like a smart move for Rockstar Games, as they’re releasing at a time when few other developers are launching new games. A little bit of new content goes a long way when there are very few new titles available for gamers to play.
What do you think about Rockstar’s new GTA Online expansion? Is this enough content to bring players back into the game? Let us know in the comments.
Grand Theft Auto Online: Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1 launches next week for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
