According to leaked information, Grand Theft Auto Online likely plans to roll out a holiday themed event sometime next week with all sorts of free gifts and items.

As most developers typically take time off during this season, many games are getting into the holiday spirit. Titles like Destiny: Rise of Iron and Overwatch have already rolled out holiday specific events, rewarding players with limited time events and exclusive content. Grand Theft Auto Online is another game who typically embraces this holiday season and if newly leaked information is any indication, players should get ready to start throwing more snowballs soon.

According to TezFunz2 on Twitter, Rockstar Games is planning to update GTA Online next week, adding holiday content including festive masks, new outfits, and Christmas trees in player houses. Similar to last year, snow will also be making an appearance every now and again during the update, letting players pick up and throw snowballs at each other or the various NPC characters roaming around.

Just what everyone (didn't) wanted for Christmas.

In addition, more free gifts will be making their way to players in the form of holiday themed pajamas, unicorn and beast masks, weapons, and sticky bombs. Leaked materials also indicate that the Fireworks Launcher will be making a return as well, most likely closer to New Years celebrations. TezFunz also mentioned a new adversarial mode called Vehicle Vendetta, but it’s unclear if this is intended to be included in the holiday update or is something else entirely.

Yes, they will enable the snow and Christmas tree and new clothing and masks for christmas and the beast masks for christmas too.#GTAOnline

Rockstar Games has yet to officially reveal its plans for GTA Online this holiday so for now players should take this news with a grain of salt. Still, with this leaked information surfacing, it’s possible that Rockstar may make an announcement sooner rather than later.

Even though GTA Online launched roughly three years ago, the service is still incredibly popular with players. According to rumors, the mode has already generated half a billion dollars for Take Two, and as such, the company has focused a lot of its efforts in keeping the service updated with fresh content almost on a monthly basis.

In fact, earlier this week Rockstar released a new trailer for its latest downloadable content pack for the game known as Import/Export. This free add-on pack lets players store up to 60 cars in new Executive Garages. New missions task players with stealing cars and later selling them through a special network. Advanced missions will unlock after a player reaches a certain milestone, revealing the location of a special vehicle players can boost. These missions won’t be as easy however, as the car will need to be found using a wide range of deadly vehicles to finish the job.

Are you still playing GTA Online or have you moved on from the experience? What would you like to see in the holiday update for the game?

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now through Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
