Grand Theft Auto Online has a nearly endless list of property that players can purchase and own, ranging from fancy cars to apartments to full-fledged in-game businesses. Unfortunately, a major bug undid all that, as properties simply vanished from players' accounts.

Grand Theft Auto Online is the hugely successful online component of GTA 5, which has managed to maintain a large playerbase even after Red Dead Online launched in 2018.

GTA Online fans recently took to Reddit in droves to complain that everything their character owned had vanished from the game. In addition the aforementioned items, bunkers and weapons also disappeared, and some even reported that their character's appearance seem to have been changed. Oddly enough, multiple players reported that yachts seem to be the only property that was unaffected.

Many believe that this bug associated is tied to accepting the 500k GTA$ bonus that's currently being offered to login, but others claimed that they haven't even received the 500k and still lost their items.

Since the problem was initially reported, Rockstar Games took to Twitter to acknowledge that it was aware of the issue and working on it. It's since issued a tweet claiming that the problem is fixed, but some fans are still having problems. Complaints include certain items still missing, owned apartments kicking the owner out, and restored items being effectively scrambled up and not in the same order they were prior to the bug. In addition, the fix only seems to have tackled the problem for PC players, not Xbox One or PS4 users.

GTA Online players are understandably upset, as in-game property is either purchased by converting real-world cash to GTA$ or by spending potentially thousands of hours grinding over the course of several years to unlock everything. It's possible that this bug is related to how some players have reported receiving the 500k login bonus multiple times. However, even those who didn't get multiple bonuses claimed that they lost their stuff. Clearly, something went very wrong within the game's programming and it doesn't seem to be fully fixed yet.

With any luck, Rockstar will continue to work towards a solution until the problem is fully fixed for all players.

GTA Online is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
