The Grand Theft Auto franchise is well known for its depictions of crime, violence, and the drama of life at the edges of society and the criminal underworld alike. However, these games are also notorious for some questionable decisions when it comes to the depiction of women. As of writing, the main Grand Theft Auto series has yet to have a single female player character, and the female NPCs have a number of peculiar habits that one fan has dedicated a video to mocking.

TikTokker za_vali put together a 13-second-long video comparing the way an ordinary woman might walk with a live-action version of the way a Grand Theft Auto NPC woman would walk. Both parts are played by the same woman, presumably za_vali, shown wearing a dark green minidress and white socks.

In the first part of the video, za_vali is shown from the back walking calmly away from the camera. Her outfit doesn't hinder her walking in the slightest, and she vanishes through a door and down the hall within three seconds of the clip's start. The rest of the video is dedicated to her imitating the way Grand Theft Auto's female characters walk, from the awkward sway of the hips to the unnecessary leaning backward. With rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 possibly having a female protagonist continuing to circulate, this reminder of the series' hilarious past with female character models may reaffirm that change is needed.

Za_vali's imitation of the iconic Grand Theft Auto woman's walk is taken to another level when she imitates an NPC whose pathfinding has malfunctioned, leading her to veer off course and walk into the doorframe instead of gliding down the hall. She proceeds to get stuck for a few seconds, much like an actual NPC, and appears to moonwalk sideways until she comes loose. Once she has shuffled sideways, she resumes strutting down the hallway as though nothing happened. While Grand Theft Auto NPC interactions are better than the ones found in some more recent games, this doesn't keep NPCs from getting stuck on doorframes in-game.

As of writing, it appears that other Grand Theft Auto fans appreciate za_vali's video, particularly the part where she appears to glitch in real life. Apparently, za_vali is a dancer, which might explain the remarkable physical control she showcases in the funny clip. Several users commented congratulating her on her smooth movements, while another user asked where she got the dress from. If the next Grand Theft Auto game really does feature a female protagonist, hopefully her walking animation is better than the one parodied in this video.
