If you have a Mac and have never played the original third person Grand Theft Auto trilogy, or if you just want to revisit the series, you can now get the popular series thanks to GameTreeMac.com.

Included are Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which are the first three games in the franchise to go third person after the top-down releases.

President and CEO of Transgaming (GameTreeMac's operator), Vikas Gupta, expresses his positivity with the trilogy porting to the Mac:

The Grand Theft Auto series has been one of the most highly demanded titles by the Mac community. The availability of this incredible franchise on the Mac underscores TransGaming's role in transforming the overall Mac gaming market. These games will be widely available and will be a great catalyst to the increasing popularity of gaming on the Mac."

You can pick up the trio at GameTreeMac.com at $14.99 each or the bundle for $39.99, which saves you $5. The games will be exclusive on GameTreeMac for 30 days, and will then be available to purchase at other retailers.

The pricing is a little off-putting since Steam practically gave GTA away to PC users at $3 to $4 each last weekend. We can hold out to see if Steam will distribute the Mac version after the 30-day exclusivity and offer a better price, considering that Steam normally sells the PC versions of GTA 3 and Vice City for $9.99 a piece, $5 less each than GameTreeMac. San Andreas is the same price at both outlets.

Grand Theft Auto 3 was originally released on PS2 in 2001 providing the base engine for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in 2004.

The trilogy is a benchmark of its time, and is still worth checking out where the franchise switched to third person. It still holds up pretty well, and now it's another classic game to add to your Mac catalog.
