Having been around for the better part of a decade now, Grand Theft Auto Online has received consistent support and tons of new content to keep players coming back year after year. And while there are those that have left the sunny shores of Los Santos, Grand Theft Auto Online still manages to attract new players on a consistent basis, maintaining Grand Theft Auto 5 sales at a consistent level.

Of course, playing Grand Theft Auto Online is better with friends, and players may want to band together and form a gang sooner or later. But there are a few steps to joining Grand Theft Auto Online gangs that players need to be aware of. To join a GTA Online gang, players will need to navigate through a few menus or perform the action on the Rockstar Social Club.

Joining a Gang

First and foremost, Grand Theft Auto Online's gangs are really called crews, and they essentially function like clans do in other games. To join one, players will either need to be invited or find one with open enrollment. Luckily, this function is built into GTA Online, which makes joining one a fairly simple process.

First, open the pause menu and go to the "Online" tab. From there, select "Crews." There will be a list of suggested crews to choose from for those just looking for any group to play with. There will also be an "Invitations" tab, which will show a list of crews that players have been invited to. Selecting one of those will join the relevant crew, though it's also possible to search for specific ones.

It's also possible to join a crew through the Rockstar Social Club. To accomplish this, simply go to Social Club's website, click on "Crews," and select "Join a Crew." Another list of suggested crews will pop up, and it's a bit faster to navigate than doing it in-game. Players can join five crews.

Creating a Crew

Creating a Grand Theft Auto Online crew works in a similar way. The process is essentially the same as joining a new crew through the Rockstar Social Club, except instead of clicking "Join a Crew" select "Create a Crew." It's important to note that players can only create one crew at a time, so be careful when creating one.

That's essentially all there is to joining a gang in Grand Theft Auto Online. There are plenty of benefits to joining one, and playing with friends is always a good way to spice things up.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are in development.
