Though the Grand Theft Auto franchise is still one of the biggest money-makers in the entire gaming industry, Grand Theft Auto 5 is still the latest game in the series that Rockstar has put out. Originally launched back in 2013 as a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title, GTA 5 still has a burgeoning online component that gets updates and content on a regular basis, but it goes without saying that fans are eager for a proper sequel.

Of course, the fact that Rockstar does have a proper GTA 5 sequel in production is well known by this point, but there's no real information available about the mysterious title in any way, shape, or form. Fans of Grand Theft Auto like Reddit user F1ash8ang are left to their own devices when it comes to entertaining themselves without going into GTA 5's multiplayer component. In this particular case, F1ash8ang came up with an interesting idea.

While the new GTA 5 Expanded & Enhanced version for latest-gen consoles did upgrade the game for new hardware, its main draw is the game's online mode, and its single-player functionality didn't get much in the way of new content. F1ash8ang chose to take his commemoration of the Grand Theft Auto franchise in a different direction, and they did so by hooking up five different generations of the PlayStation console to run different versions of GTA, from Grand Theft Auto 2 all the way to the series' latest rendition.

F1ash8ang even went on to say that they've got PlayStation Portable and Vita consoles with their own respective versions of Grand Theft Auto ready to go, underlining their status as a GTA super-fan even further. Though GTA 5 got substantially upgraded for next gen re-releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series platforms, the fact that there's been no new GTA for close to a decade now isn't going unnoticed by the community.

By focusing on delivering massive content updates for GTA Online over the years, Rockstar ended up leaning heavily towards its multiplayer community, and all the while fans of the franchise's classic single-player offerings didn't get much to look forward to. Naturally, Grand Theft Auto 6 is bound to resolve this issue once it releases, but Rockstar is yet to highlight the game in any meaningful capacity.

In the meantime, franchise fans such as F1ash8ang can compare and contrast GTA 5 with GTA 4, as well as some of the series' earlier offerings to see how the franchise has evolved over the years. There's no telling how far Rockstar will go with GTA 6 once it finally gets announced, but looking back at Rockstar's previous output may give fans an idea or two of what might happen next.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
