With Grand Theft Auto 6 returning to Vice City, it would make sense to check in on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City's biggest criminal organization, the Forelli Family. Those who played Vice City should be familiar with the Forellis, especially due to Tommy's history with them as well as their prominence during the story. It has been a long time since the Forellis appeared in any capacity, leaving their current state something of a mystery. However, it would be surprising if a gang as powerful as they were at their peak was not present at all in Grand Theft Auto 6.

During the events of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Tommy Vercetti began the game as a soldier for the Forelli family. He came to Vice City on orders from the boss, Sonny Forelli, after getting out of prison. While Tommy got started by looking out for Sonny's interests in Vice City, he eventually decides to start making moves for himself, effectively splitting away from the Forelli family and starting his own organization. This leads to a clash between Sonny and Tommy for control of Vice City's underworld. By the end of the game, Tommy's determination and viciousness wins the day.

GTA 6 Can Check Up On Vice City's Forelli Family

Sonny Forelli From Grand Theft Auto Vice City

Despite the Forellis' biggest appearance taking place in GTA: Vice City, they are actually based out of Grand Theft Auto 4's Liberty City, where Sonny was the kingpin. Vice City was about Sonny's plan to strengthen their position in the titular city, which fell apart when Tommy went rogue. Despite that, the strength of the Forelli family makes it difficult to believe that they would have been pushed out of Vice City entirely after Tommy's victory at the end of the game. In fact, considering how long they had been operating, it is almost certain that they would have contingency plans to ensure their own survival.

Despite Sonny's death in GTA: Vice City's finale, the family is confirmed to have outlived him. After Sonny's death in one of the iconic scenes of GTA: Vice City, his brother Marco took control of the family, although the events of his reign are largely unknown. Unfortunately for Marco, his own time running the family only lasted a few years before he was killed by Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' protagonist CJ, leaving the leadership role to fall to another Forelli, Franco. While Franco chronologically led the gang in 1992, it is unknown how long his reign lasted, nor the state of the gang under or after his command.

In Grand Theft Auto 6, the Forelli family could appear in a variety of ways. It's possible that their presence in Grand Theft Auto 6's Vice City is still reduced after Tommy took down Sonny, rendering them minor antagonists at best. Grand Theft Auto 6 could also feature them rising a second time, or having potentially regained their former position by the time of the game. After all, Vice City took place in the 1980s, so there is a strong chance that the city's underworld changed in the decades since, and the state of the Forellis could have a significant impact on GTA 6's story.

The Forellis are one of the most powerful organizations encountered thus far in the Grand Theft Auto series, and with GTA 6 returning to Vice City, it would make sense for them to make a cameo at the least. The protagonists of Grand Theft Auto 6 will need enemy gangs to fight, and the remnants of the Forelli organization would make perfect foes for the series' latest duo of leads. When Grand Theft Auto 6 is released, players should not be surprised if they find out what the Forellis have been up to in recent years.
