There have been few video games in the history of the medium as speculated about as Grand Theft Auto 6. Rockstar's rumored next entry in its immensely popular open-world action franchise has been the source of internet theories, numerous leaks, and a number of long Reddit threads attempting to prove its existence for a number of years now. It seems fans are so desperate to get their hands on the next Grand Theft Auto game that, as is the case with a new series of hilarious theories, they'll look in the craziest places to find it.

Taking place a few days ago, fans of the yet to be confirmed sequel began wildly speculating after the advertisements for Super Bowl 54 began to look incredibly familiar. As many will know, the annual football game took place in Miami this year, and so the advertisements used the iconic visuals of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as a loving ode to the city's unique style. This included showing the game's signature HUD and mini-map over a trailer, presenting the game's cover with different football stars replacing the artwork, and using the title's iconic font in a promotional image.

While many would rightly assume this is merely a loving reference to a classic video game also based in Miami, Grand Theft Auto fans took it very differently. Reddit was quickly ablaze with theories surrounding how the Super Bowl advertisements were hinting at the newest game in the series. Passionate fans cross-examined both the Vice City map and the trailer's minimap, closely compared the fonts to see if they were new, and generally analyzed every single piece of the Super Bowl's jokey Vice City references to draw any semblance of new knowledge they could. A number of Reddit users and YouTube channels eventually came to the consensus that these hints had to confirm a new trailer coming either during the Superbowl or - after that turned out to be false - sometime shortly after it.

Evidently Superbowl 54 was not a massive advertisement for an upcoming Grand Theft Auto sequel, however, it has to be said that the passion of the community shows just how much they want this game. While a number of fans might be looking in the wrong places for new teases about what Rockstar has lined up, there's no denying that there's a serious demand for Grand Theft Auto 6 from its incredibly vocal fanbase.

While Rockstar's upcoming plans are somewhat vague, there are rumors seemingly citing the studio could be moving onto an entirely new IP before it reaches Grand Theft Auto 6. Naturally, whatever it's currently working on, it seems fans will be incredibly excited to finally get their hands on it.
