Grand Theft Auto 4 follows the story of a downtrodden man in search of a peaceful life. Niko Bellic has spent a great deal of time attempting to rebuild himself, and leave his past as a smuggler behind. He hopes that starting a new life in Liberty City will remedy his trauma, but his past eventually catches up to foil his plans.

The release of Grand Theft Auto 4 marked one of the first major upgrades in the series. It took some of the best features from previous games and adapted them to suit the narrative. It was chock-full of incredible concepts and ideas, but some of them were discarded in later releases. With rumors of GTA 6's announcement rapidly spreading across the internet, some fans are eager to see if these elements will return.

7 Comedy Shows

Niko embarked on some extremely dangerous ventures during his time in Liberty City, but thankfully, the Split Sides Comedy Club permitted him a brief break from the crime world. Upon entering the lavish theater, Niko was given a chance to relax and enjoy the comedic musings of Ricky Gervais and Katt Williams.

Being able to experience a comedy show performed by two real-life comedians in a video game was initially jarring, but it served as one of GTA 4's most memorable features. Its reprisal in GTA 6 could permit some new comedic faces to lend their talents to the highly anticipated story.

6 Ragdoll Physics

One of the most exciting features introduced in GTA 4 was the ability to ragdoll during a collision or an explosion. Previous entries would simply place the protagonist on the ground if they were struck by a vehicle, but in GTA 4, Niko was sent great distances with his arms and legs flailing uncontrollably.

This feature added a much-needed sense of realism to the franchise. It was fascinating to see how much the player was able to upend Niko through the use of physics, and it served to make each accident feel more humorous. Its return is all but guaranteed thanks to its presence in GTA 5, but there is always a chance it might not come back.

5 Vigilante Missions

Niko drives a police cruiser in GTA 4

The "Vigilante" missions in GTA 4 gave Niko the chance to pursue the life of a police officer so long as he possessed the appropriate vehicle. Upon obtaining a police cruiser, he could embark on a series of engaging missions that tasked him with putting a stop to a selection of different crime doers.

Some of these missions required Niko to pursue fleeing criminals while disguised as an officer of the law, while others tasked him with scouting out a specific location and taking down the suspects hiding within. It acted essentially like a typical story mission, while allowing for more experimentation with the game's combat system. The return of "Vigilante" missions in GTA 6 could further improve the concept by implementing different scenarios.

4 Multiple Choice Scenarios

Niko is faced with several tough decisions while progressing through GTA 4's story. The way the narrative unfolds attempts to sway the player away from making choices that promise money, but it is difficult to refuse the large sums that are being offered. Opting to prosper from some of these decisions will usually result in the death of a friend or loved one, so the player will need to understand the risk before making their choice.

If these multiple choice scenarios were to appear in GTA 6, they could allow for some especially engaging missions that permit the player to shape the outcome. If the game has multiple protagonists, their survival could depend on the decisions made prior to the final mission.

3 Cheat Code Phone Storage

Longtime fans of the GTA series will likely have familiarized themselves with some of the cheat codes present in each entry. Years may have passed since their last playthrough, but some may still remember the exact combination and sequence of button presses needed to obtain a particular buff.

GTA 4 was unique in that it didn't require its players to memorize cheats to activate them. After a cheat was first typed in, the code would be added to Niko's phone and could be used again by simply clicking it. It was a handy feature that players could use to regain some much-needed health or to replenish bullets during dire situations, so it would be nice for it to return in GTA 6 to improve the chance of survival.

2 Graphic Executions

Certain GTA 4 missions will offer Niko the chance to perform a detailed execution on one of his foes. To perform one requires him to equip a pistol and aim it and the target before firing. If the reticle flashes red and Niko fires, a cutscene will play showcasing a frighteningly gruesome assassination.

Watching a villain be defeated in a cutscene allows for a much more satisfying conclusion to their story, and being able to trigger the event gifts the player with a sense of power. GTA 6 will likely feature an immense graphical upgrade that would make executions appear even more ruthless and visceral.

1 The Bowling Side Activity

GTA 4 Bowling

The GTA series is home to some of the most enjoyable side activities and mini-games in video game history, but the bowling activity in GTA 4 was arguably one of the best. Not many side events are incorporated into the franchise's main stories, but Roman Bellic's obsession with the pastime is more than enough to leave players longing to spend their time between missions at the local bowling alley.

GTA 6 will likely feature a variety of different side activities for players to enjoy while taking a break from the story, but nobody knows what will return. Bowling is one of the most iconic activities to exist in the series, so it would a shame for it to remain absent for another entry.
