Almost since the release of Rockstar’s action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2013, there have been an endless string of rumors and leaks about Grand Theft Auto 6, which hasn’t even been announced yet.

That hasn’t stopped eager fans from speculating on a variety of details about the game—likely location, story details, reveal date, release date—and even hunting for clues that may have been sneakily left by the developers nearly a decade ago in GTA 5 or added in recent updates to Grand Theft Auto Online.

One of the latest bits of information to rev up the rumor mill is a recent job posting by Rockstar India, which is looking for a mixed-media animator. Under the “What We Do” section of the listing, the job description specifies that the team “create[s] content for in-game media for our game world” and “work[s] on multiple platforms to create multiple style of content for in-game media.”

Many Grand Theft Auto players have zeroed in on the words “in-game media” in the job posting, theorizing that it reveals a clue not to the location of Grand Theft Auto 6, but to its potential setting in time. Fans think that in-game media may be referring to websites and TV shows found within the game world. If that’s the case, the internet didn’t become mainstream until 1990, with the creation of the World Wide Web and the first web browser. For this reason, fans speculate that GTA 6 must be set sometime after 1990.

There have been so many rumors in the past eight years about GTA 6 that it’s sometimes hard to keep track. However, considering that even today almost nothing is known about the game, all of the leaks about the launch and reveal dates have thus far been false. Just two months ago, another Rockstar job listing seeking a cinematic gameplay capture artist had some people hoping that a trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 would be released soon. A few fans, on the other hand, have begun to believe that GTA 6 will turn out to be another Half-Life 3, always rumored about yet never released.

This isn’t the first time that a simple line in a job listing has set off rumors about popular games, such as when a posting by Sony Santa Monica seeking a gameplay camera designer was taken by many as confirmation that God of War 2 is in development. Similarly, a job posting by Naughty Dog for an economy designer to work on a multiplayer game experience convinced many fans that a multiplayer spin-off might be coming for The Last of Us 2.
