Players eager for Grand Theft Auto 6 now have reason to believe that a release date for the next game in the series is coming soon. This is thanks to a notorious leaker on GTAForums, a user known as gonnaenodaethat, who has posted several cryptic messages that some fans believe are related to Grand Theft Auto 6.

A Reddit thread has been assembled featuring all of the reasons why people believe that gonnaenodaethat is a legitimate source. Not everything on list feels like a solid connection. For example, it lists that he is Scottish, and Rockstar North is in Scotland. However there are some serious reasons to believe that he is legitimate. For example, he was posting about the Red Dead PC release before it was announced. Also, if one visits grandthefauto6.net, it will link back to his profile. The full thread can be seen below.

So if gonnaenodaethat is to be believed, what can be learned from his posts? Many players believe that he has leaked a date of some sort, which could either be a release date, or more likely, the day that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be officially announced. He started a thread on the GTAForums simply titled 0320. Many users believe this means 3/20 or March 20th. An earlier leak placed the announcement date for Grand Theft Auto 6 as March 25th. While these dates aren't the same, they're close enough to each other that some fans are getting very excited for the end of March.

Of course it's important to remember that as of now this all speculation. Grand Theft Auto fans have been burned by false rumors before. There were rumors that the game was going to be announced at the 2019's E3. Obviously this turned out not to be true, and while there were some very exciting announcements at E3, Grand Theft Auto 6 was not among them.

Rockstar has been going through a transitional period as of late, with its co-founder and creative director Dan Houser recently leaving the company. It's very possible that some of the earlier leaks may have been true at the time, but then things shifted internally at Rockstar. Or it's possible that none of these leaks have been accurate, and fans still don't know anything. But this round of leaks does look to be promising, and some fans are ready to get their hopes again.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
