While Grand Theft Auto 6 has received little in the way of news aside from vague teasers and supposed leaks, fans of the series have nonetheless come up with a variety of theories on the game's release. While most leaks and teasers for Grand Theft Auto 6 have been debunked, one Reddit user followed what breadcrumbs there are to create a believable theory on the game's release date – as well as what could happen in the years leading up to it.

Reddit user Karzmat posted their three-part analysis of what could happen in the coming years to the /r/GTA6 subreddit. The first part covers how Grand Theft Auto 6 was teased in the release trailer for the Cayo Perico heist, where a set of coordinates led to a VI-shaped road. The road is in the U.S. state of Virginia and shoots off from State Route 642 - the user notes that, though unlikely, this is could hint at a release on June 24 in an unknown year or a June 2024 release date.

The second part of the argument covers hints written on doors found in GTA Online at the Los Santos Airport. The user points out that there are six doors in the airport with "2021" written on them. While Rockstar has not confirmed whether these are teasers for anything Grand Theft Auto-related, the numbered doors nonetheless sparked a number of fan theories.

Karzmat goes on in the third part to discuss a possible release timeline for Grand Theft Auto 6 based on realistic expectations of development and communication. The user theorized that an enhanced edition of GTA 5 could be announced in late 2021, which could lead to more teasers for GTA 6 being discovered as they were in the Cayo Perico heist. They then theorize that the beginning of 2022 could reveal more massive leaks, leading to a trailer for the game in 2023.

While fan theories can range all over the place in terms of believability, it's not unlike Rockstar to tease future titles in their games, even in Red Dead Redemption 2. In Grand Theft Auto 4, for example, advertisements for flights to Los Santos clearly teased the location of the upcoming fifth entry. Grand Theft Auto 5 has been out for a very long time, and though fans are absolutely rabid for any information about its sequel, it will be a long wait yet for anything official about Grand Theft Auto 6 from Rockstar.
