It's been eight years since Grand Theft Auto 5 launched, and so it's safe to say that many fans of Rockstar's open world franchise are hungry for details about the next game in the series. Unfortunately, official Grand Theft Auto 6 details are nonexistent at this point, with Rockstar keeping tight-lipped about its next game and any other future projects. This has led to endless rumors and supposed "leaks" about what Grand Theft Auto 6 will entail, with the latest one claiming to reveal a ton of information about the game.

Fans should take this information with a massive grain of salt, but it's gaining traction on Reddit and elsewhere online. The leak claims to reveal a lot of details about Grand Theft Auto 6, claiming it will use a Chapter system like in Red Dead Redemption 2, with the first two chapters set in the 1970s, presumably followed by a time jump. This matches previous Grand Theft Auto 6 time period leaks that have suggested that the game will take place in more than one decade.

The leak goes on to say that the Grand Theft Auto 6 release window is October 2023. Supposedly, the map will be based on Miami and Florida, with a main story that will be around 60 hours long. The GTA 6 map is said to be smaller than the one in Red Dead Redemption 2, but more "dense." As far as the online goes, the leaker says that Grand Theft Auto 6's online component will be "grounded" when compared to the more outlandish items seen in GTA Online today.

The "leak" also addresses the recent rumors that Grand Theft Auto 6 will have a female protagonist. If this latest rumor is to be believed, Rockstar considered having a female playable protagonist at one point, but the idea was scrapped. It also seems as though the company decided against letting players switch between three different playable characters like in Grand Theft Auto 5, which also goes against some of the other rumors about the game.

As far as "proof" goes, the leak says that the new game will feature Ken Rosenberg from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and that he will mention Tommy Vercetti multiple times. When players actually get their hands on GTA 6 and experience this, they will know that the leak was legitimate. However, this claim by itself seems to cast the entire "leak" in doubt, as Rosenberg, Vercetii, and their version of Vice City exists in a separate universe than the Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5 timeline.

Ultimately, fans should be extremely skeptical of this latest Grand Theft Auto 6 leak. There's way too much information included for it to be legitimate, though there are so many claims that it wouldn't be surprising if something from it turned out to be true, even if it's by accident. Whenever Rockstar decides to reveal Grand Theft Auto 6, fans will find out if there was ever any truth to this big "leak."

Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development.
