Grand Theft Auto 5 first released in 2013, and nearly 10 years later, Rockstar Games still hasn't announced Grand Theft Auto 6 in an official capacity. This is no doubt disappointing to Grand Theft Auto fans who are hungry for a new experience, and it has also left the door wide open for a never-ending cascade of "leaks" about Grand Theft Auto 6 and what the game will supposedly entail.

While most Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks can be shrugged off as fake, the latest round of leaks have some legitimacy to them. Reputable leaker Tom Henderson recently made some claims about Grand Theft Auto 6, and his claims were then backed up by other trusted sources, such as Bloomberg's Jason Schreier and VGC. Needless to say, this makes it much easier to believe the latest round of Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks.

For those who have been out of the loop, here are the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, which may very well be legitimate.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Female Protagonist

None of the main series Grand Theft Auto games have ever featured a female protagonist. From the original Grand Theft Auto to Grand Theft Auto 5, players have been exclusively playing as males (outside of Grand Theft Auto Online, of course). However, rumors have been persistent that a female playable character will be featured in Grand Theft Auto 6, possibly as one of two playable characters in the game.

This rumor was backed up by the latest leaks, with leaker Tom Henderson drawing an image of Grand Theft Auto 6 featuring a female character toting a gun. Rockstar Games has written some fantastic female characters in the past, like Sadie Adler from Red Dead Redemption 2, so it will be interesting to see what the company can do with a female playable protagonist.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Jetpacks

Jetpacks have a complicated history in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Jetpacks were featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and were rumored to be hidden in Grand Theft Auto 5 as well. In fact, Grand Theft Auto 5's complicated Mt. Chiliad Easter Egg referenced jetpacks, but they have never been found in the story mode to date. A form of a jetpack is used in Grand Theft Auto Online, however.

It seems as though jetpacks will be making their triumphant return in Grand Theft Auto 6, if leaker Tom Henderson is to be believed. In the same image he drew that showed Grand Theft Auto 6's female protagonist, Henderson added a character flying around in the background with a jetpack. Of course, it's possible that the jetpack will be restricted to Grand Theft Auto 6's online mode, but that remains to be seen.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Map

There have been plenty of rumors and leaks about the Grand Theft Auto 6 map over the years, but the latest ones have been backed up by multiple reputable insiders. According to various sources, Grand Theft Auto 6 will have an evolving map, ala Fortnite's battle royale map. This should go a long way in boosting the game's longevity and replay value, though it remains to be seen exactly how fans will react to it.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 is said to have an evolving map, the main setting for the game is believed to be Vice City. Grand Theft Auto 6's Vice City setting has been one of the most consistent rumors about the new game over the years, with "leaks" dating back years claiming that GTA 6 will use Vice City as a setting. And since Grand Theft Auto 4 used Liberty City and GTA 5 used Los Santos, Vice City does seem like the most logical option for GTA 6's setting.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date

Unfortunately, it will likely be years before Grand Theft Auto 6 fans get answers about these leaks. Not only are the leakers in agreement that Grand Theft Auto 6 has an evolving map and is set in Vice City, but they also agree that the game is in the early stages of development and won't be released for years. The belief is that the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date is not until 2024 or 2025 at the earliest, and with the game that far out, a reveal likely won't be happening for a few years as well.

Whenever Grand Theft Auto 6 is revealed and released, it will undoubtedly be a huge event for the industry. Grand Theft Auto 5 had a record-breaking debut when it first launched in 2013, and if the leakers are correct, fans won't be getting their hands on GTA 6 until a decade after GTA 5's launch. Hype is going to be at an all-time high, especially since Rockstar Games' latest title, Red Dead Redemption 2, is one of the highest-rated video games of all time.

GTA fans are going to be in for a long wait when it comes to Grand Theft Auto 6. They can check out the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto 5 to help pass the time.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development.
