Now that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for nearly a year, the rumor mill has turned its attention to Rockstar Games' next project, whatever that may be. Some rumors point to Bully 2, and others claim that Rockstar is working on Grand Theft Auto 6. The latest Grand Theft Auto 6 rumor echoes many things that were "leaked" by past rumors, but adds some additional information that some may find interesting - even if it's more likely fake than not.
This latest "leak" comes from Reddit user xambie12, who apparently found the information on the GTA forums. Anyone excited for Grand Theft Auto 6 should take the following claims with a massive grain of salt, and should treat all GTA 6 leaks with skepticism until Rockstar officially reveals the game.
According to the leak, Grand Theft Auto 6 will take place during multiple time periods and allow players to travel to multiple cities. The game will reportedly start in the 1970s, and star a half-white/half-Hispanic drug dealer living in Liberty City. Eventually, players start smuggling cocaine between Liberty City and Vice City - and it's worth noting that this isn't the first time we've heard that Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature both Liberty City and Vice City.
At some point in the story, Grand Theft Auto 6 players will end up in prison, and then when they exit prison, it will be the 1980s. The Epilogue of the game will reportedly be set in "present day" with the online component sticking to the 80s. Speaking of online, the leaker says that there will be opportunities for friends to play through the story campaign together, joining as part of the main character's crew.
The leaker also claims to reveal a couple of other characters that players will interact with during the course of Grand Theft Auto 6's story. There will reportedly be an antagonist named "The Mexican" who is inspired by Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Man. There will also apparently be an undercover FIB agent ("FIB" is the Grand Theft Auto version of the "FBI," for the uninitiated) that will have infiltrated themselves into the players' crew.
Now the only question is - is any of this leak true? Most likely not. We have no idea of determining even how far Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development, and most of the rumors point to Bully 2 being Rockstar's next game. Even so, there are some common themes we're noticing when it comes to GTA 6 leaks, like a focus on drug dealing and multiple cities. With GTA 5 standing as the most profitable entertainment product in history, we know that a GTA 6 is inevitable, but we'll have to wait to find out more.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
