Calling Grand Theft Auto 6 a highly anticipated game would be one of the largest understatements someone could make, as the recordbreaking sales for GTA 5 show just how popular the series is. With GTA 5 nearly seven years old now, though, one would expect official info on its sequel by now. With that in mind, the voice actor for GTA 5 protagonist Franklin has discussed where exactly GTA 6 is.

While Rockstar has spent time updating its popular GTA Online mode as well as the killer-infested Red Dead Online experience, insiders have reported that they are hard at work on GTA 6 as well. The only problem is that various reports have indicated that the game is early on in production while others say it is nearing completion, leaving many fans to be confused on when exactly the game is coming. Franklin actor Shawn Fonteno does not have all the answers, but he is sure of one thing.

Fonteno took to Instagram Live to defend Rockstar against various complaints regarding the development of the sixth numbered entry in the series. The complaints in question do not deal with the reset accounts in GTA Online, but rather the constant comments that Rockstar is milking GTA 5. Fonteno tells fans not to "knock Rockstar down," ensuring them that “it’s a process to put these games out” and the next Grand Theft Auto will come when it is ready.

Considering that Grand Theft Auto 5 is one of the most played games of all time, it is no surprise how anticipated the next game is. Fonteno makes a great point by pointing out the current state of the world given the coronavirus, as well as the impact that has had on development. Releasing an unfinished game at such a poor makes little sense, as Fonteno states that fans “wouldn’t accept it if they threw GTA 6 out right now” and the game was a mess.

Fonteno ends his discussion of the issue by sharing that it took a massive “four/four-and-a-half years to film and complete GTA 5.” With that much time spent recording dialogue, Grand Theft Auto’s development time should be a bit more understandable for info-starved fans. That has not kept fans from searching for any shred of news they can find, though, with a domain being found that hints at the location of GTA 6.

Fonteno’s comments are fair and the points he makes are valid, as the actor for Franklin should have a better idea of what goes into creating a GTA game than fans do. Still, even though Fonteno tells players to be more patient with Rockstar, demands for info on GTA 6 and what could be in it likely will not be stopping anytime soon.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is reportedly in development.
