After years of radio silence from Rockstar following the release of the incredibly popular fifth game in the franchise, fans were finally treated to a seemingly solid Grand Theft Auto 6 leak courtesy of Jason Schreier and Kotaku. In the report, it was revealed that Rockstar is currently in the very early stages of developing the highly-anticipated next entry in the franchise, with the company supposedly adopting a new strategy that would entail adding content to the game post-launch in an effort to minimize crunch. However, one leaker seems to believe that the rumor is false, claiming that Grand Theft Auto 6 is much further into production that Scheier claims.

The name behind the leak is none other than Tez2, a fairly reputable Rockstar leaker that has revealed accurate information a number of times in the past. According to the leaker, Grand Theft Auto 6 is actually around 60 to 70 percent complete, with Tez2 foreseeing the title releasing in the next few years.

Following the new Grand Theft Auto 6 reports, Tez2 took to Twitter, claiming "a new GTA title is in 'early stages of development'? It's hard to believe that when I'm hearing it's 'halfway done' or even beyond that." He goes on to clarify more in a follow-up tweet, claiming "take note that RDR2 took approximately 8 or 7 years worth of development, main production started right after RDR1 release & recording sessions began in 2013." He continues, "expect the same with the next title, unless it's 'early' as in we are nowhere near release which is more believable."

The leaker went on to further discuss his thoughts on the GTA forum, telling GTA fans that Schreier "saying the next title is still in early stages of development is most likely a mistake, I'm positive it already passed early stages of development, there's no way it's still stuck on that stage." He follows up his claim by stating "it's 60% to 70% complete from what I have heard." This undeniably complicates the recent claims surrounding the development of Grand Theft Auto 6especially with Tez2 being a reputable source.

That being said, Jason Schreier is easily one of the most reputable and respected journalists currently working in games media, with numerous industry contacts and a history of countless accurate leaks to his name. While the words of Tez2 display an interesting new side to this story, it's worth taking the rumor with a grain of salt until new information is revealed.
