Grand Theft Auto 6 is certainly one of the hottest topics in gaming right now, even without a formal announcement or a reveal. Fans have been going to great lengths to find about its existence, but not a lot of reliable information is available as of now.

The open-world crime thriller has always reveled with the idea of satire, often using its characters and the scenarios they find themselves in to create a hilariously self-aware parody of its setting. It's most likely to continue going forward, and Grand Theft Auto 6 might have a great opportunity with telling interesting stories related to the crypto mining boom.

A Lot Of Interesting Possibilities Within The Grand Theft Auto Universe

Grand Theft Auto as a series has never shied away from the possibilities of providing layered comedies, thanks to the writers' excellent chops. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas did it with gang culture and Grand Theft Auto 4 did with the "American dream," while the latest and greatest Grand Theft Auto 5 explored the hilarity that comes from the eccentricity of modern American culture.

The protagonists themselves have also remained similarly interesting which further drives these feelings of questioning these beliefs and having fun with these characters while developing relationships along the way. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto 4's CJ and Niko respectively were outsiders in one way or the other. Grand Theft Auto 5's trio of protagonists were quite different in their own rights but Michael and Trevor in particular carried the feeling of being distant with modern conveniences and aspirations.

Working To Great Effect Within Grand Theft Auto 6

If Grand Theft Auto 6 is indeed set in the current time period, there are interesting possibilities for including many recent controversies and discussions surrounding cryptocurrencies. Tech billionaire Elon Musk has come under scrutiny recently due to a myriad of related reasons, and having a similarly eccentric billionaire with a huge fan following and the alleged ability to manipulate crypto prices seems ripe for a character within Rockstar's universe.

In addition to this, the hardware shortages caused by scalpers and subsequent inflation of price on highly-sought after components like RTX 3000 cards are another interesting narrative of its own. Grand Theft Auto 5's Strangers and Freaks mechanics allow for these small self-contained vignettes to shine the brightest without robbing the main narrative of its gravity - should the developer want it to turn that way.

Of course, it's still very early to speculate anything regarding Grand Theft Auto 6. Next-gen releases of Grand Theft Auto 5 are strong hints reinitiating the belief that Grand Theft Auto 6 might still be quite some ways away. Many rumors are still swirling around regarding a possible return to Vice City, which if true, would certainly dismiss any such speculations regarding the satires on these modern comedies. It's best not to hold one's breath just yet, but it does remain ever-exciting to fantasize about this game which is slowly starting to become a distant reality now.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions release on November 11, 2021.
