Rockstar Releases High-Res 'Grand Theft Auto 5' Promo Images

Rockstar Games has released high resolution versions of all of their previously released promotional art for use as desktop wallpaper or Rockstar Social Club icons.

Along with being an iconic mishmash of popular culture and the open world crime genre, the Grand Theft Auto series has always featured some pretty iconic promotional art. While we've already featured, and gushed over, the various pieces that have been released thus far for Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar has taken it upon themselves to do one better and release each piece of art in one handy, high resolution collection. That means they can be used as anything from fancy desktop wallpaper to a Facebook cover photo.

Included in the set are several images (5 to be exact) featuring Grand Theft Auto 5's three main characters. As we have already detailed, GTA 5 will break the mold of traditional Grand Theft Auto titles by allowing players to take control of three different protagonists and switch between them seemingly on the fly.

The character that gamers will be the most familiar with, as he narrated that first GTA 5 trailer, is Michael, the "retired" bank robber. His former partner, Trevor Phillips, is the disheveled looking fellow — the one who is prone to foolish behavior like leaping off trains. And finally there is Franklin, who is seen wielding a vicious Rottweiler named Chop.

To say that Grand Theft Auto 5 is a massive undertaking for Rockstar Games would be one of the biggest understatements of the year. Boasting a game world that is larger than anything the developer has created before, and tons of gameplay options — from bike riding to deep sea diving — Grand Theft Auto 5 could very well be the quintessential open world experience.

However, we're just as eager to delve into the story of GTA 5 and discover how they plan to balance these three disparate characters. Rockstar took the single player narrative to new heights with Red Dead Redemption, and now maybe they can take the ensemble piece to its own zenith.
