Grand Theft Auto 5 is the highest grossing entertainment product in history so far, and its upcoming release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X means it's going to widen the gap even further. Rockstar Games had originally pegged the GTA 5 next-gen release for November 11, but it was recently announced during the PlayStation Showcase event that plans for the game's next-gen release have been pushed back. The new Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 and Xbox Series X release date is sometime in March of 2022, and while that may be bad news for GTA fans, it's good news for the other games releasing in November.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was originally released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 before making its way to PS4 and Xbox One in 2014. A Grand Theft Auto 5 PC port was released eventually as well, further expanding the open world game's potential audience. It's been nearly a decade since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, though, and it's safe to say that many fans are growing anxious for the next game in the series and are getting tired of the constant re-releases.

This is evident by the severe backlash to the Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 trailer, which has amassed over 100,000 dislikes at the time of this writing. This shows that many fans have had their fills of GTA 5 and are ready for Grand Theft Auto 6. But even with this backlash, Grand Theft Auto 5 is a juggernaut, and its release on next-generation consoles will undoubtedly pull attention away from other titles that are releasing in the month of November.

The original Grand Theft Auto 5 PS5 and Xbox Series X release date was November 11, so the games it likely would've had the biggest impact on would've been Forza Horizon 5, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, and Shin Megami Tensei 5. But now that Grand Theft Auto 5's release date has been moved, these games have a lot more room to breathe, and they should be better off for its absence.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition seems like the game that will enjoy the biggest benefit from GTA 5's release date getting pushed back. Both games are re-releases of older titles that launched around the same time originally. Both games are also large, open world affairs that demand a significant time investment. But now that GTA 5's release date has been pushed back, fans don't have to choose between them.

In any case, it seems that the games releasing in March 2022 will now have to worry about the next-gen Grand Theft Auto 5 instead.
