For how beloved Grand Theft Auto 5 is to so many people, it is admittedly a rather old game. Originally released in 2013 and subsequently ported to the next generation of consoles, Grand Theft Auto 5 remains an influential title within the gaming community. Though due to its age, the gaming community has mostly exhausted everything that can be accomplished within the game, yet that has not stopped the modding community from continuing to innovate.

Despite its age, Grand Theft Auto 5 is the highest-selling video game of all time, and year after year, the game continues to show up in lists of highest selling games for any given system. However, as previously mentioned, GTA 5 is a rather old game and while plenty of new people purchase the game every day, older players have seemingly run out of things to do in the game. That's where one such talented modder comes into play.

Talented YouTuber Insert Controller Here has released a video on how he managed to fly a plane in GTA 5 using a Kinect. The YouTuber details how the controls work and while it looks rather intuitive, it also looks rather exhausting. The player T-poses to start the plane, leans back to get it in the air, leans forward to tilt the plane downward, and leans side to side in order to turn the plane. To turn on the landing gear, the player has to kick their leg outward.

The YouTuber also included a tutorial on what programs to download so that others could give it a try. While GTA 5 has seen its fair share of weird mods, this mod certainly takes the cake. It's weirdly fascinating how much can be done just by using a different control method. In terms of how the Kinect can be utilized in terms of GTA 5, this feels like just the tip of the iceberg.

For how much of a failure the Kinect ultimately was, it had a lot of potential in terms of how the technology could have been utilized. It might not lead to the most enjoyable experience, but this video more than proves that the Kinect can be used in inventive ways. It'll be interesting to see if any other Kinect based mods come out for GTA 5 or any other game for that matter.

It truly is impressive what can be accomplished in terms of differing controller mechanics. There are so many talented and inventive creators on various platforms that find new ways to mess with and test the limits of certain games using different methods. One such individual managed to play and beat Dark Souls 3 using bananas, which is more than enough to prove how creators continue to build upon the foundation the gaming industry has laid.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now for PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, and PS4. Xbox Series X and PS5 versions are in development.
