Grand Theft Auto 5 Jet Pack Hint

From hidden maps to chaotic carmageddons, last year's Grand Theft Auto 5 has offered plenty of cheats, hidden secrets, and Easter eggs to keep fans on the hunt for additional content over six months after its initial release. Despite the surplus of YouTube walkthroughs and tips and tricks videos for last year's best-selling game, there is still at least one potential secret that has kept the GTA community stumped, so far. Thanks to one sharp-eyed modder, there may finally be a breakthrough on that front...

Ever since San Andreas players were able to take flight with the help of a jetpack, it has become the hope of GTA players that the awesome means of transportation would be reintroduced in future games. The $60 million San Andreas vehicle may have been absent from Grand Theft Auto 4, but that wasn't enough to make Rockstar fans give up hope that the pack would be buried somewhere in the massive open world of GTA5.

Chr0m3 x MoDz, a member of the Se7en Sins modding community, spotted some noteworthy lines of code in the source for Grand Theft Auto 5 version 1.12. The code, which uses the word 'JETPACK' multiple times was not present in previous versions of the source...

Rockstar hasn't made any official comments on the code yet, but it seems possible that the programmers are establishing some structure in the source for an upcoming patch or DLC pack that could introduce the jetpack. We're still operating in the realm of rumors and what-ifs at this point, but there are a few hints scattered throughout the game to suggest that the inclusion of a jetpack may have been planned from the start.

The cryptic tree of images found on the Mount Chiliad mural features a stick figure equipped with a jetpack alongside pictures of a cracked egg and a UFO. References to aliens and pieces of a UFO can be found scattered throughout the world of GTA5, so the saucer drawing isn't very surprising, but the egg and the jetpack are a little more mysterious. It may just be a nod to the San Andreas vehicle's massive popularity, but a popular theory is that the hidden message was meant to foreshadow things to come after the game's launch.

If the mural is a hint at what DLC will include in the game later, what do you think the UFO and the cracked egg could represent? Let us know your theories in the comments.
