First ‘Grand Theft Auto 5’ Promo Art Revealed

By | 4 years ago

Although the art style of Grand Theft Auto the series isn’t exactly one that stands out in the forefront of gamers’ minds, the art used to brandish the series’ box covers is something that is instantly recognizable. Who can forget the picture of the girl and her lollipop from Grand Theft Auto 4?

Now that promotion for Grand Theft Auto 5 has begun ramping up (and by that we mean Rockstar isn’t avoiding mention of the highly anticipated game anymore) fans can look forward to some promotional photos that feature that same distinct art style. And that’s exactly what we have for you today — the first piece of Grand Theft Auto 5 art featuring that iconic style.

The photo was revealed on Rockstar Games’ Instagram page (social media marketing at its finest) and included a promise that more details were coming soon. While we can’t speculate as to the nature of that reveal, we wouldn’t be surprised to see another trailer or perhaps confirmation of a mid-2013 release date.

More importantly, the timing of Rockstar Games’ announcement could be enough to disrupt a pretty packed Fall season, and switch gamers’ attentions from Assassin’s Creed 3 and Halo 4 to Grand Theft Auto 5. There’s no guarantee that will happen, but there doesn’t seem to be any better time to drop some substantial news.

As far as the photo is concerned, it re-establishes one of the GTA 5 trailer‘s early scenes, one that features a crew disguised as a pest control team. How exactly that factors into the finished game is unclear — is this part of our crew? — but it definitely feels like a perfect Rockstar Games mission.

Nevertheless we’re still left guessing about the nature of Grand Theft Auto 5 as Rockstar continues to keep as tight-lipped as possible. Most of the news that has been generated about the game — from who will be the main character to the scope of Los Santos — has mostly come from heavy fan speculation. Hopefully these promised new details will clear a lot of those issues up.

How do you envision this pest control sequence playing out? What do you hope Rockstar reveals later this year?

Grand Theft Auto 5 will (hopefully) be out some time in 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
