The recently released Granblue Fantasy Versus is already making a big splash in the fighting game community due to its finely tuned gameplay, balanced roster, and beautiful visuals.

Unlike many games which possess numerous characters with questionable viability who see little to no competitive play, each member Granblue's roster has a toolset that is capable of bringing their respective player to victory.

But while each character is viable in their own right, some characters in the game's roster have a slight edge over the rest, whether it be through ease of use or the flexibility of their moveset. So today we're counting down the ten strongest characters you can play in Granblue Fantasy Versus!

10 Zeta

A character possessing excellent pokes, Zeta is a character for those seeking powerful mid-range capabilities.  Possessing numerous normals with solid range and a useful projectile, Zeta is able to keep opponents out while also being able to hold her own when getting up close and personal.

Zeta has a notably strong aerial game, as she has bouncing stomps reminiscent of those used by Street Fighter's Chun Li.

Additionally, Zeta's move, "Spear of Arvess" can be angled and change directions on the fly, making it one of the most versatile move in the game, giving it numerous uses ranging from being a means of getting in, and being a solid anti-air.

9 Narmaya

Granblue's resident "stance character," Narmaya possesses two completely unique battlestances that completely change her moveset. While this may appear overwhelming at first, this provides the character with an air of unpredictability and flexibility that other characters simply can't match.

By using her "Butterfly Effect," she can switch between her Freeflutter and Dawnfly stances which each can be used in different ways. For example, the Dawnfly Stance possesses strong range with moves like Narmaya's "Setsuna" while the Freeflutter stance can be used to make Narmaya function more like a "Rushdown" character.

8 Percival

A well-rounded member of the cast, Percival is capable of increasing the power of various attacks through the use of his "Traumerei" ability. This allows Percival to deal large sums of damage seemingly out of nowhere, pairing well with his above-average range and capabilities to punish opponents missed and blocked moves.

While some of Percival's move may be on the slower side, the flexibility and strength of his arsenal often more than make up for it.

7 Lancelot

Lancelot of one of Granblue's premier rushdown characters who is a perfect fit for aggressive players who want to get in their opponent's face.

Possessing numerous ways of safely approaching such as a slide that goes under the vast majority of projectiles in the game, Lancelot can quickly begin setting up combo strings and mix-ups. This ease of getting in is paramount for the character, as Lancelot possesses some of the strongest combo potential and effective mix-ups in the entire game.

6 Metera

Metera is the character for those who wish to fight foes from afar utilizing a slew of long-ranged projectiles.

Possessing straightforward and tricky trap-based zoning alike, Metera can constantly unleash a barrage of projectiles on an opponent, even when she's in the air. This makes things extremely difficult for members of the cast with low mobility options and short range.

Furthermore, Metera has some of the best mobility of any character on the roster, having access to a quick and effective air dash.

Metera's main weakness comes in the form of her short-ranged attacks, which tend to be slower and weaker than those used by the remainder of the cast.

5 Ferry

If a player is looking for a character with extremely useful normals, Ferry may be the character of they're dreams.

One of the game's most capable zoners, rather than utilizing projectiles like many other fighting game zoners, Ferry employs the use of extremely long-range pokes with her whip in order to keep foes at bay. This allows Ferry players to often control the pace of a round and dominate mid and long-range affairs.

Ferry also possesses useful mobility options in the form of her "Ghost Swing," which can be used to both approach and evade foes.

4 Beelzebub

The main antagonist of the game, Beelzebub, is a character with a large arsenal of terrifying moves that can seemingly answer any scenario.

Beelzebub can use "Shadowstep" to repeatedly teleport around the map whilst also having access to "Karma," a move that can force opponents closer to Beelzebub. This allows Beelzebub to manipulate space and positioning more efficiently than any other character.

To top it all off, the character also possesses a projectile, a solid anti-air, and even a dive kick, making Beelzebub a huge threat no matter where he is.

3 Katalina

Perhaps one of the most (if not the most) versatile characters on the roster, Katalina possesses a very straightforward moveset that rewards a player's fundamentals and reads.

Utilizing solid mid-range pokes, Katalina can easily punish opponents and turn the tides of battle by transitioning into her own combos. She also possesses a useful projectile and anti-air that help when playing with a defensive and reactionary playstyle, whilst also toting "Light Wall," an ability which can be used to flexibly counter and approach opponents.

2 Charlotta

Due to her high damage output, mixups, and crossups, many have drawn similarities between Charolotta and Street Fighter's Akuma.

Charlotta possesses numerous very quick normals and command moves that can be strung together for highly impactful combos. Additionally, due to the quickness and nature of many of these moves, it is often difficult for opponents to respond to Charlotta once she's picked up momentum.

Charlotta's key weakness comes in the form of her lack of range, as while her attacks are very quick and numerous, they won't be reaching too far.

1 Gran

The main protagonist of the game, Gran, is an extremely easy character to pick up who only becomes increasingly stronger the more a player practices and uses the character. This is a character with a very low barrier of entry to grasp while possessing a very high skill ceiling that can benefit fighting game veterans.

Possessing a moveset reminiscent of that of Street Fighter's Ryu, Gran is an all-arounder with a projectile and strong anti-air.

On of Gran's strongest tools is his "overdrive surge" which has been nicknamed simply "boot" by players. This move is fast, powerful, and when used from the right distance, is even safe on block.
