Two trademarks discovered in Argentina have PlayStation fans speculating that a Gran Turismo announcement for PS5 could be made soon. The trademarks, published on June 4, are for the Gran Turismo name and for a Gran Turismo logo, though there's no number or subtitle for either trademark.

Fans are also seeing a deeper meaning in the date the trademarks were published, June 4. That was the original date of Sony's now-delayed PS5 game event. The idea being that perhaps Sony was planning to announce a new Gran Turismo game and register its trademarks alongside it. The delay of the event went through, but the trademark registrations went through.

Just because it makes some simple sense doesn't mean that it's true, however. Trademark registrations happen often and the new trademarks aren't anything that hasn't been seen before. It's possible that they're re-registrations or that they're something that just coincidentally wasn't registered in Argentina as of yet.

There are rumors of a next-gen Gran Turismo game in development, though. However, its name isn't rumored to be just Gran Turismo, but rather Gran Turismo 7. Franchise head Kazunori Yamauchi has even confirmed that a new Gran Turismo is in development. No final details about the game are confirmed yet, though.

PlayStation fans won't have to wait too long to figure out at least some of the truth, as the delayed PS5 event is likely to be rescheduled in the next week or two. If Gran Turismo/Gran Turismo 7 doesn't show up there, then the speculation's been moot.
