It's been a long time coming, but the release of Gran Turismo Sport is finally on the horizon. The highly anticipated racing game from Polyphony Digital has had a troubled development cycle, complete with delays, but the PS4 exclusive is currently due for release on October 18, 2017. Now, those Gran Turismo fans who have been waiting patiently for the game have something else to keep an eye on - a limited edition PS4.

This Gran Turismo Sport PS4 was announced by Sony on Twitter, after a fair amount of buildup. The console, which comes finished with the Gran Turismo logo, will be released on the same day as the racing title launches, across the UK, Europe, and Australasia.

The PS4 in question is a 1TB console, and comes with the Gran Turismo Sport-themed silver faceplate, as well as a customised controller emblazoned with the Gran Turismo logo. The console also comes with the Day 1 edition of Gran Turismo Sport, with $250,000 of in-game credits, 60 PS4 avatars, a chrome helmet, and livery sticker packs.

Although this particular console bundle may well be enticing for fans, there will be other options available to gamers. The limited edition Gran Turismo Sport controller will be available on its own, while there is also a version that is bundled with the standard edition of Gran Turismo Sport, rather than the Day 1 version. As well as this, a number of other PS4 bundles will be available, complete with a standard copy of the game.

Even if this limited edition console does not prove alluring to all gamers, those who are long-term fans of the Gran Turismo series will be relieved to see Sony promoting the game in such a manner. There have long been concerns within the racing game community about Gran Turismo Sport, with issues such as the cancellation of pre-orders leaving some players worrying about exactly when the game would see release, and in what manner the release would come.

Thankfully, Gran Turismo Sport seems to be back on track once more, with the latest game trailer hinting at the racing action to come. When the game does see release, here's hoping that the game proves that the wait was worth it.
