Gran Turismo 7 launched to mostly positive reviews and was a hit with series fans at first, but it's since found itself the center of controversy. Gran Turismo 7 microtransactions have been criticized as egregious and predatory, with fans taking issue with how the game constantly reminds them that they can top off at the PlayStation Store when they're short on credits. Then there was a problem with Gran Turismo 7's server maintenance that saw the game's online features taken down for an extended period of time, so the game has definitely found itself in a rough patch.

Despite these problems, Gran Turismo 7 has still earned quite a bit of praise for its actual racing, and the game is unquestionably stuffed with content. Racing game fans could easily sink hundreds of hours into Gran Turismo 7 without ever bothering with the microtransactions. There's plenty for players to see and do, including a rather bizarre UFO Easter egg that was recently discovered by the community.

YouTube channel Cycu1 recently uploaded a Gran Turismo 7 video showing a UFO abducting a cow. When playing on the Mount Panorama track, Gran Turismo 7 players will eventually come to a curve next to a grassy field filled with onlookers. If Gran Turismo 7 players park their car here and wait for a moment, they will then see a UFO in the shape of a flying saucer rise into the sky. A tractor-beam then shoots out from the bottom of the spacecraft to abduct a cow before flying off into space.

Gran Turismo 7's photo mode can be used by curious players to get a closer look at the UFO and the cow's abduction. Even though the whole scene happens far out in the fields and looks small when players see it happening on the track, the photo mode confirms that Polyphony Digital still put a lot of detail into rendering the UFO as well as the cow it abducts.

Longtime Gran Turismo fans will know that the franchise has a history of hiding weird Easter eggs like this in the games. In fact, there are multiple Gran Turismo games where players can catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster, so maybe it's not all that surprising to see a UFO in the skies of a Gran Turismo 7 racetrack.

While fans may still be upset about the Gran Turismo 7 microtransaction controversy, they may still want to go see this Easter egg for themselves and keep an eye out for more that may be hiding in the game.

Gran Turismo 7 is out now for PS4 and PS5.
