You can finally stop ignoring your girlfriend, stomache, job, bowels and yes, even your bleeding eyes while playing Gran Turismo 5. The year's supply of Depends you thought you were going to need is going to be of no use to you very soon, unless of course you need them for other reasons.

Polyphony Digital CEO and Gran Turismo 5 Producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, has confirmed through a little birdie that the game's endurance modes are finally going to get the mid-race save feature fans have been begging for.

Kaz Yamauchi responded while retweeting a complaint about Gran Turismo 5's endurance mode:

I’m sorry. Game saves during endurances. They are currently under development. RT

@andrepeniche: as I simply don’t have 4, 9 or even 24 hours available to stay in front of the TV to do endurance races, as much as I love GT5, unfortunately it’s not possible for me to complete them.

Fans everywhere have been rejoicing by returning to work, calling their girlfriends and even visiting the bathroom, even though those Depends felt really comfortable.

The endurance save feature was one which surprisingly didn't make the cut in the recent GT5 update 1.06 patch. That patch came with a number of other features and upgrades which include Remote Racing, Custom Courses being playable online and the introduction of Performance Point - an index for a car's performance - so which cars enter races cars can be better restricted.

Meanwhile, Polyphony Ditigal's nubmers regarding the sales of the game have shown that worldwide, Gran Turismo 5 is well on its way to being the best selling Gran Turismo of the franchise selling 6.37 million copies worldwide in 2010 alone.

Gran Turismo 5 has been out since its release on November 25, 2011 and features more than 1,000 cars for driving fans to dream about. Our Gran Turismo 5 review should give you a better idea if its the right racing game for you.

Has this news left you feeling relieved about endurance racing, or are you still going to avoid the time-intensive races anyway?
