GR Pick: 'Brothers Mario 2: Kong Country'

Brothers Mario 2 Kong Country

The Country Club is at it again with a sequel to their wildly popular Brothers Mario video, and this time they're hitting the jungle – the urban jungle. As the subtitle suggests, Donkey Kong and his crew make their appearance in the form of the Yakuza, and Bowser goes bananas once he finds out Kong is trying to take over.

Donkey Kong is moving in on Bowser's turf, and this forces the King of the Koopas to recruit the only plumber who can take him down. If you watched the previous video in the series, then you know what to expect. Several references to Nintendo's vast history including the Super Mario Super Show and enough one-liners to make your head spin.

The video features several cameos including Dry Bones and Boo as Bowser's personal guards, and a few others that we won't spoil. Let's just say that Bowser is "hooked on the brothers."

Check out the latest from the Country Club below:

The Country Club have outdone themselves with this sequel, and it's definitely more entertaining than watching the live-action Super Mario Bros movie. Utilizing a modified version of Grand Theft Auto IV, the directors Nathan Kitada and Aaron T. Umetani have created a unique and quality piece of work.

The video features a lot of references to Super Mario Bros. 2, and those who played through that game may have predicted what was coming in the end. It will be interesting to see what they do their next installment - perhaps enlist the aid of Bucken-Berry and Ala-Gold. For those of you who are unaware, Bucken-Berry and Ala-Gold were nicknames given to the Blue and Yellow Toads in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

There are a lot of possible characters who can appear in the next Brothers Mario video. Who would you like to see show up in the sequel? Maybe Princess Rosalina from Super Mario Galaxy as an owner of a trendy night club?
