As the developing Gotham Knights series proves, DC has been making some pretty big grabs for the spotlight lately, particularly on television. The extremely popular (and equally hilarious) Peacemaker has been dominating on HBO Max, while The CW's regular offerings have kept up their momentum despite a not-always-positive reception from critics. (Look, Batwoman is fantastic right now and everybody needs to give it a shot.)

One of DC's latest upcoming forays into the TV world is its recently-pilot-ordered Gotham Knights series on The CW. Set in a timeline where Batman has died, the story tasks his former colleagues to come together with the children of the departed hero's greatest foes and protect the city in his stead. If that sounds familiar, it's probably because this is bizarrely not the only impending project bearing the Gotham Knights name. Yet somehow, the two are unrelated.

Thankfully, circumstances have now played out in a way that should help differentiate The CW series from the upcoming video game from WB Games Montreal also bearing the name Gotham Knights. Fan news site and fandom scoop-finder Murphy's Multiverse has reportedly uncovered the possible characters who will take center stage on the Gotham Knights series. Some are probably expected, but a few might be a bit of a surprise.

Based on alleged insider information from a casting call, Murphy's Multiverse has pieced together the information to deduce some possible leading roles. They claim that the show will likely feature the characters of Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Stephanie Brown (Spoiler), Harper Row (Bluebird), her brother Cullen, Julia Pennyworth (daughter of Alfred), Duela Dent (self-proclaimed daughter of The Joker), and Tiffany Fox (daughter of Lucius Fox). It should be noted that the casting call is reportedly looking for actors around 18 years of age, which should give an idea of the timeline. Again, none of these have been confirmed in any official capacity, but the possibilities are super fun to think about.

Grayson and Brown seem likely, given their shared status as former Robins who worked with Batman. They both went on to forge their own crime-fighting identities, with Grayson becoming Nightwing and Brown taking the mantle of the tech genius Spoiler. Harper Row and Cullen could both be welcomed attempted strides for LGBTQ+ inclusivity, given how the former is a bisexual young woman living on the streets while the latter is a young gay teen who will apparently be played by a transgender actor (though the character wasn't confirmed as trans in the comics).

The others all seem pretty plausible as well, even though it's worth repeating that this is all from a scoop site that has, admittedly, been on the mark more than a few times. But the speculation alone is enough to really set it apart from the Gotham Knights game. Any of these predictions could be true or false, or they could all be. But either way, here's hoping both projects end up as quality DC entries.

Gotham Knights is in development.
