Gotham Knights players will need to solve some tricky puzzles once they start investigating the Court of Owls, and one major example of this early on is the Owl Shadow Puzzle. Players are required to adjust a mechanism so that a large shadow of an owl is cast on the far wall in the correct orientation and position, but there isn't an obvious clue as to which direction it should face.
Gotham Knights features a range of antagonist groups for the heroes to deal with, from the Mob to the League of Assassins, but none are quite as mysterious as the Court of Owls. A shadowy secret society that has existed in Gotham for countless years, the Court manipulates all of Gotham to serve its own ends. Even Batman had only just begun to uncover the Court's machinations shortly before his death.
The Owl Shadow Puzzle
This puzzle is found underneath Gotham's renowned "Powers Club," a Gentleman's Club with a long history and some deep secrets. As a meeting place for many members of Gotham's Elite, it should be no surprise that the Powers Club is, in truth, where the Court of Owls roosts. Beneath the opulent building lies the hidden lair of the Court, concealed behind multiple layers of security and hidden passageways.
After uncovering the hidden passages leading down into the Court's hideout, players will be faced with a large mural and no clear path further in. This is where the spotlight and the strange mechanism it faces come in. After examining the mural, players can scan the spotlight to gain the ability to activate it, which will cast a shadow on the mural.
This owl shadow needs to be adjusted by interacting with the four sections of the mechanism in the middle of the room in order for the path forward to open up.
In order for the door to open, the owl's shadow must be facing to the right, as seen in the image above. A good way to check that the mechanism is set up correctly is to look at the gears underneath each part of the mechanism using the AR view.
Start with the part closest to the spotlight, and rotate it until a glowing line can be seen passing through the middle of the gear under it. This indicates that this part is angled correctly. Repeat this process for the other three pieces of the mechanism to align the shadow on the wall correctly and open up the path further into the Powers Club.
