Following the official release of all the shows that won’t be coming back to The CW, the network has also shared its official Fall 2022 lineup — and following this, the network released a first look at the Batman spin-off series, Gotham Knights.

The Gotham Knights television series is set to follow the children of a collection of characters within the Batman universe as they and the rest of Gotham City reel from the death of the Batman. The series cast list will include Oscar Morgan as Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Misha Collins as Two-Face, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela Dent, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, and Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Row. The show is also set to be written/produced by Chard Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams, with Danny Cannon set to direct Gotham Knights.

The first official Gotham Knights banner was released on Twitter by the showrunner Natalie Abrams and reshared by other DC media accounts. The banner depicts a group of five teens, standing in what appears to be a rainy alleyway in the heart of Gotham City. With this just being a small foreshadowing of what the series will bring to The CW, from the first images it looks like the tone of Gotham Knights may be on the darker side, similar to most Batman content.

Although a video game of the same name is currently in the works, it apparently will have no connection to the upcoming series. The series also is supposed to have no connection to the Batwoman series, and it is not suspected to have any connections to the CW’s Arrowverse either. However, other series like Supergirl and Black Lightning had no connection to the Arrowverse initially, but multiple special crossover episodes still happened. So the chance of the Gotham Knights having a guest appearance in one of the network's other superhero shows isn’t completely farfetched.

The first look at Gotham Knightscomes after the recent cancellation of multiple pieces of DC universe media such as the upcoming Wonder Twins movie, Naomi, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow. However, it could mark a new beginning for The CW, as it’ll air beside the network's renewed shows like The Flash which will return for season 9, and Superman & Lois which was renewed for season 3.

With the show's pilot being recently shot and the first season greenlit to hit The CW sometime during 2023. DC fans anxiously await the show's official release and for more looks inside what's to come in The CW’s Gotham Knights series.
