Virtual reality is a concept that many have considered to be the future of gaming. However even with various headsets being released over the past few years, the adoption rate for the technology is still incredibly low, due primarily to high price points and lack of meaningful software. It looks like developer Free Lives is hoping to help change that though with its announcement that Gorn is now in development for the Oculus Quest.

For those that don't know, Gorn is a VR game where players take on the role of a gladiator in a bloody yet cartoon-like fight to the death. The game has received quite a bit of praise since it initially released in 2017 on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, leading to Free Lives releasing the game on PSVR earlier this year.

Now it seems that Gorn did well enough to allow for Free Lives to bring the game to the Oculus Rift. In a tweet, the developer announced that it would be partnering once again with 24 Bit Games to bring Gorn to the Rift after its successful partnership brought the game to PSVR. Unfortunately, that's the extent of the news Free Lives was willing to share, as it didn't want to put an estimate on a release date.

The news of this port comes at an extremely opportune time. Recently, rumors that the Oculus Quest had been discontinued began circulating after multiple retailers reported that the device had been marked 'end of life.' This was disappointing to a lot of players considering that the Oculus Quest not only is one of the cheaper entry points into the world of VR, but is also able to be played without the need for a high-end computer. With Gorn being announced for the Quest, it seems that players can breathe a sigh of relief.

Gorn is available now on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and PSVR, with a Oculus Quest version currently in development.
