Google Stadia is certainly an ambitious project, and those who are excited about this new gaming experience can take solace in the fact that Stadia is set to launch next month. With Google Stadia, players can enjoy triple-A games anywhere regardless of their location and hardware, though there will be some limitations at launch. Now, there is some more sad news for eager fans of Google’s upcoming gaming technology. According to an announcement by Google, people might not be able to play it right away even if they ordered a Founder’s Edition.
Google stated that Stadia units will be shipped on a first-come, first-serve basis, which means buyers who pre-ordered a bit late will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on it. Some may even have to wait as long as December to start streaming their favorite games via Google Stadia. The company recently tweeted that all the Founder’s Edition units have been sold out, and all of the Founders will be able to play on November 19, but that’s not entirely true either. Google clarified that Founder’s Edition units would “start arriving” from November 19, and those who were the first to pre-order will get their hands on the first units shipped.
Those who were unable to order the Founder’s Edition of Google Stadia can now pre-order Premiere Edition. The Premiere Edition is almost the same as the Founder’s Edition and costs the same at $130. However, it does not come with the Founder’s blue controller; instead, it will be paired with a white controller, and players won’t get a Founder’s badge on their accounts either. Also, the Premiere Edition won’t be shipping on November 19 either, says Google. However, both Founder’s and Premiere Editions are set to be delivered within two weeks from Stadia’s launch, so almost everyone who ordered either one of the editions will be able to get their hands on the units by early December.
So far, there have been several games confirmed for Google Stadia, which include some of the popular AAA titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, The Division 2, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and even the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. However, it remains to be seen how the cloud gaming service actually performs when it launches next month.
