Despite releasing to some negative reviews earlier this month, Google Stadia appears to still be striving to improve its streaming service and make the console a marquee experience that can stand alongside the likes of the Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. Of course, this means that the console needs some big exclusive games to invigorate its line-up, and if new reports surrounding some recent hires at Google Stadia are to be believed, the company is definitely heading in the right direction.

It appears that three significant members of Ubisoft will be making the leap to the newly formed Stadia Games And Entertainment studio, each of which had a massive hand in developing the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The three devs in questions are François Pelland, Mathieu Leduc, and Sébastien Puel. Puel will be taking on the role of director for Stadia Games and Entertainment, Pelland will become head of production and will assume responsibility for first-party game strategy, while Leduc will take up the position of art director for the studio.

Stadia Games And Entertainment, which will focus on first-party content for the Google Stadia, was founded by former Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond. She’s also had a long history with the Assassin’s Creed franchise, having been an executive producer for many of the earlier games, and will no doubt want to bring across the same success that made the series so iconic. With three of the other senior staff that helped make Assassin’s Creed the best-selling blockbuster franchise it is today by Raymond's side, there’s no denying Stadia’s first-party line-up could be one to watch.

Despite this promising first-party future, it does go without saying that Google Stadia hasn’t had the most successful of launches so far. It debuted to both mixed and scathing reviews earlier this month, with critics citing a host of launch issues ranging from latency problems to severe input lag. The bundle has also been criticized for lacking a varied launch line-up, with early adopters only having a small range of games to enjoy.

While this did include one exclusive - a horror adventure game titled Gylt - it was mostly comprised of older titles, such as Destiny 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the recent Tomb Raider trilogy. The poor game line-up and lack of many promised features have made Stadia’s launch somewhat controversial, however, there’s hope that the service will succeed regardless. Streaming video games is considered by many to be the future of the medium after all, and with senior talents like Leduc, Pelland, Puel, and Raymond on board, there’s plenty of hope for the console yet.

Google Stadia is available now.
