As the dawn of a new generation of consoles has the gaming world buzzing, many have been quick to forget a new platform launch just last year. While the Google Stadia hasn't made a significant impact, the service is starting to spread to more devices.

The Google Stadia streaming service is now compatible with "most" Android mobile devices. This is a significant expansion as only a select few mobile devices could previously run Stadia's streaming software. According to the official product page for Stadia on the Google Play store, devices with Android 6.0 and above should be able to support the service.

This news comes just days after a price drop for the Stadia Premiere edition from $129 to $99. This expansion of platforms provides a significant increase to the possible userbase which better serves the subscription service. While playing these games on mobile may not be ideal with touch controls, the app does allow for usage of the official Stadia controller.

While Stadia continues to grow its library of games, the upcoming Stadia Connect event on July 14 will explore the future of the service. This event comes as gamers question the validity of a streaming only device within the current gaming landscape.

Earlier this year, criticism was leveled at Stadia's weak lineup of games for 2020. While the library continues to grow through the months, some have seen Stadia's increase of free games as a positive for the system. Time will tell if the expansion of the service to a greater mobile userbase will increase the current subscriber count.

The Google Stadia app is now available on most Android devices. The current pro subscription fee is $9.99 per month after a one month trial period.
