Every year April Fools Day is filled with funny tricks and pranks from game developers, programmers, and the like. With it already being April 1 overseas, some of the jokes have already started. So far we've seen a couple tricks pop up, like Ash Ketchum photobombing in Pokemon Go, and now Google has gotten in on the fun. In celebration of April Fool's Day, Google has created a Google Maps Snake game, but with trains and buses in popular cities.

The game can be played on several different maps, each featuring a different vehicle acting as the titular "snake." Cities like Cairo and Sydney feature trains, while other cities like London feature more signature vehicles, like double-decker buses. San Francisco features the iconic trolleys, while Tokyo features the familiar commuter trains. Cities will also feature iconic landmarks from that area for players to earn bonus points. Should players like, they can even play on the world map as well. While this is certainly not quite as interesting as playing Mario Kart on Google Maps, it's certainly entertaining.

Most of the wild festivities for April Fools Day will most likely be launching tomorrow, so people should be prepared for some wild antics from popular websites or game developers. Last year, there were plenty of great April Fools Day pranks, like the Pokemon Eevee "joining" the Tekken 7 roster or CD Projekt Red announcing their new "Designer of Game Environments" to the world.

April Fool's Day pranks aside, Google has been making a lot of waves in the gaming industry this past month with the company's new Google Stadia game streaming service. While there isn't a whole lot of concrete details out there about the upcoming service, it seems that Google is trying to break the mold of the standard video game console experience.

More on Stadia is expected to be revealed in the coming months, with a release likely to be happening toward the end of this year. While Google has always had a small hand in video game jokes and pranks for April Fool's Day and other holidays, it seems like they are starting to set itself apart with something entirely new. But until then, fans can enjoy a new take on a classic with Google's Snake reskin.
