Tuesday morning at Nintendo's E3 Press Conference, Activision released the first trailer for GoldenEye 007 for the Wii. While recently there was speculation that this was in the works, this is the first official news we've received.
Did you choke up a little bit when you saw Bond sneaking above the guy sitting on the toilet in the Facility? I know I did. Being able to play an updated version of one of the greatest games of all time is something I completely look forward to.
The only thing that worries me is having Daniel Craig play 007. While he has taken over the Bond character in the recent movies, I think this might have the same effect as seeing Hayden Christensen at the end of Return Of The Jedi.
While the game will have online multi-player, I'm more excited to play the classic 4-player split screen mode. Especially with TVs the size they are now, I can't remember a time I played GoldenEye on something bigger than 27 inches.
One thing that really annoys me is the graphics. From the trailer, it still kind of looks like an N64 game. After13 years, and two consoles, I would expect a little bit more love put into a remake of, arguably, one of the best games of all time. Hopefully Activision won't be happy with just re-releasing a classic. If they can bring something new to the table, they can easily hook a whole new generation of gamers.
GoldenEye brought multi-player gaming to a whole new level in 1997. This game can easily be one of the hottest sellers for 2010 if Activision takes the care that a title of this magnitude deserves. I can't wait to pick this us and dust off my Wii this holiday season.
What about you? Are you excited to see this game come back, or are you afraid that it could ruin your childhood memories? Let us hear it in the comments and stay in the loop on whats going on at E3 with our unbeatable E3 2010 coverage.
GoldenEye 007 is due to release this holiday season, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
