Following last week's leaks, Sony has officially confirmed that the limited edition gold PS4 Slim with a 1 TB hard drive will be available beginning June 9th. And from Friday, June 9th until Saturday, June 17th, the gold PS4 and other PS4 Slim units will be available at a discounted price of $249.99.

Both the gold PS4 and the general PS4 console sale are in celebration of E3 2017, which takes place next week in Los Angeles. Sony is calling this special the "Days of Play" event, and it will also be marked by sales on the PlayStation Store. Each day will reportedly bring with it a new discounted game, though exact games are unknown at the time of this writing.

Sony has also confirmed that physical games at various retail stores will be discounted during the Days of Play event as well. Recent heavy hitters like Resident Evil 7Horizon: Zero DawnPrey, and more will be available at $39.99, as will DualShock 4 controllers.

In the meantime, Sony has yet to reveal the specific sales for each day of the event, but fans should be able to expect details on that front soon. Alternatively, Sony may keep each day's sale a surprise as a way to encourage PS4 owners to visit the PlayStation Store more frequently during the event.

It's worth noting that this specific event appears to be exclusive to North America. Other regions will be celebrating E3 week as well, though in a slightly different manner.

For example, PS4 fans in Europe can expect a 500GB version of the gold PS4 slim, as well as a limited edition silver version of the console as well. It's unclear at the time of this writing if the game discounts coming to North America during the Days of Play event also apply to European markets or if the silver PS4 will be making its way outside Europe, but we should know sooner rather than later.

With the event set to kick off this Friday, concrete details for what to expect in various regions should come to light soon.
