Counterplay Games didn't exactly surprise anyone when Godfall showed up at Sony's latest State of Play, boasting a unique new gameplay experience for early PS5 adopters. Of course, there's only so much that can be shown in a gameplay video, and considering the abilities of Sony's upcoming system, and the DualSense controllers, viewers might have not gotten the full picture of how the new title will feel to play.

In an attempt to fill in that gap, Counterplay CEO Keith Lee has written an in-depth and highly detailed explanation of exactly what Godfall is going to feel like when players get their hands on it. In the case of delving into how the game will feel, Lee took this literally, going into detail as to how the development team is utilizing every feature of PS5's DualSense controllers in order to bring the upcoming title to life.

Counterplay has spoken on how Godfall will utilize the DualSense before, remarking mostly on the haptic feedback that creates an improved sense of feeling that goes above and beyond the current rumble packs in modern controllers. However, in Lee's most recent reveal, players have been given a better idea of how a completely separate feature will impact how players interact with the various weapon types available in the game. This improved feel comes through the adaptive triggers, which will respond differently depending on what weapon type the player has equipped and with what Valorplate they've paired it with.

The most interesting aspect of these adaptive triggers that Lee makes note of in the analysis, is the way that the triggers don't just react when blocking, attacking, or striking against shielded enemies. From the way it's described, the triggers will give a completely different feel based on the weapon they are choosing, such as a heavy greatsword gliding smoothly as it creates exaggerated swings through the air. Thanks to this implementation, the idea is that each of Godfall's weapon will both behave uniquely in combat, but will also feel physically unique to the player.

From how Counterplay games is describing it, Godfall's synergy with PS5's DualSense will likely be the best way to play the game, as the new controller will give the best feeling to the player. So, while it will be launching for PC along with PS5, it may be worth holding out to get the new system to feel how the developer really intended for the game be played.

Godfall is set to release Holiday 2020, for PC and PS4.
