Hitting the early Summer hype train hard, Gearbox and Counterplay Games have begun rolling out a new series of Godfall lore reveals through the Looter Slasher's Twitter page. The latest reveal gives a look at the Valorplates and the deeper lore into how they allow the player characters to wield the magic and gear that has them progressing through the game.

These recent lore reveals began in May with a number of posts to the Godfall Twitter account in the form of cryptic excerpts from a larger Lore book that makes up a sort of in-universe religious text for the game. The most recent reveal, however, is in a video that gives a verbal account for what the Valorplates are and takes a specific look at Silvermane and how it will impact the Monster Hunter and Dark Souls inspired gameplay.

According to the new video, the Valorplates "reflect" the gods of the Godfall universe, acting as a conduit to their powers that can be honed through "storm and furious battle" in order to unlock the strength of these beings through the upcoming Next-Gen game's gameplay. The video caps off the dialogue with the phrase, "Ascend, lionhearted, with Silvermane" which is likely to be a slogan for this particular Valorplate moving forward. It seems as though Silvermane will be leaning heavily on the lion motif, both with the silver mane that wraps around the armors helmet and lends to its namesake, as well as the opening shot in the clip featuring a lions footprint.

The other recent posts on the Godfall Twitter have also given an insight into what both the player characters, the Valorians, and these god-like figures, the Archons, are and how they will interact in within the game. It would seem that the Archons were formless deities who made the Valorians in order to wage war with each other, and as a result, the Valorplates were granted to empower these armies. Looking at this early lore building, the inspirations for Godfall are clearly intended to help build a compelling world for players to live in as they play through the game.

This type of world building and deep lore will certainly help bring in some players who may look at Godfall as Sony's first Souls-like title that can bring fans of the brutally hard games to the PS5. Looking at both the game's gameplay and this new lore, Godfall is looking to be one of the best games on PS5 when the system releases later this year.

Godfall is set to release in Holiday, 2020 for PC and PS5.
