Pretty much every person who played God of War agreed that it was among the very best PS4 exclusives to be made. The good news is that this experience will be continued on the PS5, with the tentatively-titled God of War: Ragnarok due for release.

The game was already being hyped before its official announcement, but the actual event has caused fans to go crazy with glee. Naturally, this has meant quite a few memes to indulge in as the fanbase doesn’t take long before doling these out to voice out their enthusiasm. To hype yourself up, check out these hilarious memes.

10 It's About Time

While it isn’t one of the absolute best sandbox games to be made, God of War PS4 does well in its open-world features. It has a variety of seasons in the realms Kratos visits, with eternal winter coming on by the game’s end.

This meme is a way to remind fans that winter is coming for sure. Seeing as God of War: Ragnarok is going to feature this theme heavily, it’s appropriate to use the ultimate winter meme to usher the game’s arrival.

9 If Only

Some were hoping that Thor would become one of Kratos’ allies in the previous game. Of course, that wasn’t to be, as Kratos has made himself one of the God of Thunder’s greatest enemies instead. The two are set to clash in the next game.

With no real sketch or picture of God of War Thor, this meme has made use of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor in its place. The meme sarcastically claims that anyone saying the picture is fake is lying, although fans would love if this were true.

8 Not That Way, Kratos

This great fan poster by Twitter user BT_BlackThunder is meant to hype up the arrival of Ragnarok. The creator of this meme couldn’t resist making a joke about it, though, as the caption humorously points out that Kratos isn’t facing the correct side for the picture.

Posters generally have the main character facing the camera, but Kratos seems to have forgotten this point. While he's made the worst kind of decisions before, it’s hard to take Kratos seriously after this as he looks like something of a goof.

7 Ragnarok Has Never Looked This Good

One of the things fans want to see from Atreus in the next game is for him to be a bit wiser. The kid was clueless for the most part in God of War PS4 and fans have made fun of this fact quite a lot. This one brings the mockery back and inserts the PS5 into the mix.

It appears as if Atreus has just seen a realm called the PS5 and is asking Kratos what that is. Undeterred, Kratos simply replies that this is the land where 4K resolution is the norm. While those graphics were seen on PS4 too, Kratos is certain the PS5 experience will be better.

6 Sony Wins For Sure

Those rune symbols sure look cool in the game’s teaser trailer. Still, nobody knows what the heck they’re supposed to mean, although the creator of this meme claims to be the exception. According to them, it’s a message from Sony itself.

Evidently, the words translate into Sony boasting about how they’re going to be taking everyone’s money. Even if that were true, you can’t argue against it because people are definitely going to fork out their money for the God of War PS5 experience.

5 No Sympathy For Freya

One of the unresolved storylines from the previous game has to do with Freya’s vengeance against Kratos. She’s going to try and take him out in Ragnarok for sure, although the last image of her so far is when she was seen distraught by her son’s body.

Any normal person would feel bad for a mother mourning her son’s demise, but the PS5’s graphics have made this easy to overlook for God of War fans. After all, Freya’s tears looked pretty cool in the PS4 itself, making it a certainty her character model will look even better on the PS5.

4 The Ultimate Weapon

There were a lot of events that happened between God of War III and God of War PS4. A significant event was Kratos losing the Blade of Olympus, seemingly the most powerful weapon ever made. It appears he’s gotten an even bigger one in the next entry, though.

The meme claims that the PS5’s controller is far more powerful than any weapon Kratos has ever had. You can’t really argue against that either for the time being, as the Dual Sense still hasn’t been released and fans will be sharing this sentiment.

3 Not So Fast

The announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 had convinced many that it would be a surefire Game of the Year candidate. That path isn’t so clear cut anymore for the title, what with God of War: Ragnarok around the corner as well.

There’s no other way to surmise how fans are feeling than this meme. At one point, it seemed so easy to embrace Cyberpunk 2077 as the king in waiting. Now, Ragnarok has arrived to make things a lot more interesting.

2 Some God Of War To Spare?

No matter how badly fans want it, the next game will take its time to arrive. Sony hasn’t even graced anyone with a trailer, let alone give out the game so soon. For the time being, fans will just have to wait until development is complete before it’s served.

That doesn’t mean fans can’t make fun of this predicament. In many ways, the game really is being cooked and being well done for it to be a good treat. Yet, everyone is waiting so much in anticipation that this picture might just be completely accurate.

1 That's Not Exactly The Same

god of war meme

It’s hard for parents to distinguish one game from another, much less when both have the same theme. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be arriving as a launch title for the PS5 while also carrying the Nordic backdrop as God of War.

If any young fan wants the title as a gift, they’ll have to be extra careful to let their parents know just what they’re looking for. There’s no doubt at least some will be getting Valhalla by mistake, so make sure to spell out exactly what you want to avoid any disappointment.
