A few Xbox gaming insiders have rumored that the critically-acclaimed God of War may be getting a release on PC platforms. This comes after games like Horizon Zero Dawn made the move from being a PlayStation Exclusive to taking advantage of higher-powered hardware.

In a recent episode of his podcast, content creator Rand Al Thor chatted with Xbox Insider Jez Corden. Late into the podcast, he joked about Jez having insider information, implying Jez was trying to say something through a cough: "God of War on PC in August?" Recent tweets responding to the reveal of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC by the pair seem to back up this 'joke,' stating "That won't be the last PlayStation exclusive hitting PC either! Awesome to see."

Released back in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, God of War received widespread acclaim for its story, world design, graphical fidelity, and characters. Among a host of other accolades, the game received the Game of the Year title at the Game Awards, as well as high review scores. Since then, fans have been hoping that Sony Santa Monica might take the game to PC, as it would only heighten the already visually stunning title.

While these rumors are from insiders, this has not been confirmed by Sony or the developers of the game. This is following the release of a number of titles for PC, including Death Stranding releasing only a couple of days ago. Fans are hoping that this trend will see God of War finally get higher frame rates and potentially even RTX ray-tracing.

About a week ago, Guerilla Games revealed that its previously PlayStation exclusive title Horizon Zero Dawn will be coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store in August. The trailer shows off some flashy new graphics, as well as smooth 60 fps gameplay.  This came after months of false rumors and speculation that the title would be getting a port to PC, as well as the reveal of the upcoming title Horizon Forbidden Westcoming to the PS5.

Whether or not these rumors about God of War are true is yet to be revealed, but with the potential reveal of a God of War sequel for next-gen technology, this release would bring a lot of talk about the game and would be good marketing for Sony. Only time will tell what we will see next from Santa Monica Studio.
