A new job listing by God of War developer Sony Santa Monica seems to confirm that it is now making God of War 2. The developer has a new boss after Shannon Studstill left to join Google, but this is unlikely to have any effect on the quality of the new game.

On the Sony Santa Monica Studio site, the developer has posted a job listing for a gameplay camera designer to join the God of War team on contract. The hired designer will have to "design and implement player-controlled gameplay cameras and camera systems," "support player navigation, traversal and combat with a keen eye for the combination of composition and usability," and will be working with other gameplay and design teams to "help create a smooth and seamless player experience." The listing doesn't say that the game is God of War 2, or God of War 5 if following the series' timeline, but it seems unlikely that this is for an update to the 2018 game.

The job listing isn't the first tease that Sony Santa Monica has put out for a new God of War game. An animator for God of War posted a photo in a motion capture suit, suggesting that Sony Santa Monica is now deep into development on a new game in the series.

Cory Barlog, the game director of God of War, also joked about developing a sequel that isn't God of War 2. Barlog's tweet may not have officially confirmed that the new game is in development, but it seems to many fans that the developer is treating God of War 2 like an unspoken secret.

There have been rumors that Sony Santa Monica is developing two exciting games for PS5. One of these could be a new God of War and the other could be a brand new IP. The developer may be making these two games at the same time but it's difficult to guess how far each of them are into development and which one could be released first.

It's unclear when a new Sony Santa Monica game could be announced. Sony has officially revealed more PS5 features but that event didn't give fans the game announcements that they wanted and the company hasn't announced any other streams like that. Any new game from the developer would probably be revealed at a bigger PS5 event, but fans don't know when that could be.

God of War is out now for the PlayStation 4.
