God of War was easily one of the best games of 2018 and one of the best games on the PlayStation 4. For many fans of the original franchise, it was a breath of fresh air, breathing new life to the series' gameplay, visual style and, most of all, it's story.

However, for some players, it was their introduction to the series, and served as a terrific starting point for newcomers. And if any PlayStation 4 owners missed out on this action-adventure masterpiece last year, they can now own it for only $10 without having to wait until Black Friday.

Several different retailers, including Amazon, are now selling the "Greatest Hits" version of God of War for $10 as part of an early Black Friday sale, which is half off it's regular $20 price tag. PlayStation players will remember that God of War joined the "Greatest Hits" collection back in September, alongside games like Far Cry 4 and Rayman Legends. Given the game's financial and critical success--as well as it's massive cliffhanger ending--a sequel is inevitable, so everyone who hasn't played it should definitely start now.

2018's God of War was a serious change of pace for the franchise. While all the previous games took place in ancient Greece, this new title saw Kratos move to an ancient Norse setting. While the change was jarring at first, it made sense given that Kratos had already killed pretty much every single god, monster, and figure in Greek mythology. What was more surprising was the revelation that Kratos had started a new family when he moved to this new land and even had a son, Atreus.

Atreus could've easily been an annoying "escort mission" type character, but instead he's one of the best parts of the game, so much so that fans can't wait to see where Atreus' story will take him in the inevitable sequel. The biggest change by far, though, came with the character of Kratos. Kratos has noticeably aged since his last appearance, and with that age, Kratos has a calm acceptance of things. He is no longer driven by blind fury (though he can still get ferociously violent in combat) but instead a grim determination while on his journey to defeat a mysterious and powerful figure.

Of course, some fans might be less concerned with story and may just want to know if it plays as well as the old God of War games. Fortunately, it does. There's lots of great weapons for Kratos to use, from old favorites like the Blades of Chaos to new weapons like the Leviathan Axe, as well as plenty of amazing armor sets to collect.

God of War is available exclusively on PlayStation 4.
