Santa Monica Studios has been sharing various teasers for the upcoming PlayStation exclusive, God of War: Ragnarok. One image that was recently posted to its Instagram hints at various aspects of Ragnarok's world, including the world serpent, wolves, and a familiar helmet.
The God of War: Ragnarok concept art that Santa Monic Studios recently shared to its Instagram shows the world serpent known as Jormungandr frozen underneath the ice. The area surrounding the serpent is cracked, suggesting that the ginormous snake can wiggle around slightly. Although Santa Monica Studios hasn't discussed the role of the world serpent in God of War: Ragnarok, players may have to free it from its icy tomb.
The world serpent's head is nestled near the front of the God of War: Ragnarok concept art, while its body flows to the left and behind it all the way up a mountain. Part of the massive snake is exposed to the left of the concept art, showing the white scaley body of the reptile. If this concept art is indicative of the release of God of War: Ragnarok, the exposed part of Jormungandr may be the solution to one of Kratos' roadblocks.
A large shattered statue looms atop a temple near the exposed part of Jormungandr in the God of War: Ragnarok concept art. Although the nearby ravens caused some fans to think that the statue teases Freya or Odin, it's actually the shattered statue of Tyr. The bottom of the statue still remains after the events of the original God of War, but a large chunk of the statue has been destroyed.
Three ravens are seemingly circling a helmet that is resting on the ice. This helmet appears to be from Tyr's statue and has landed on the ice after the destruction of the rest of the statue. Based on what Santa Monica Studios has shown off of God of War: Ragnarok so far, Tyr will play a major role in God of War: Ragnarok.
Resting on the smooth ice near the head of the world serpent is a bobsled tied to a couple of wolves. Kratos will traverse the icy landscapes of God of War: Ragnorok utilizing a vehicle similar to this in addition to the boat that fans of God of War are already familiar with from the first game. A bolt of lightning is also striking the mountain that Jormungandr's body winds up in the God of War: Ragnarok concept art, suggesting Thor's location in the game.
God of War: Ragnarok releases for PS4 and PS5 in 2022.
