Kratos and Atreus set off on a long journey in God of War Ragnarok to find Durlin’s Mine after leaving his office in chapter two. The Dwarf confuses the father and son duo by giving them a map saying it’s a fine. After encountering many monsters and solving numerous riddles along the way, the pair arrive at their destination, hoping to find Tyr and save him.
Upon reaching Durlin’s Mine entrance, Kratos and Atreus are faced with a few monsters like Wretches and mini-bosses like Bergsra. Defeat all of them and carry on the journey to the Applecore Mine in God of War Ragnarok. Here, players will have to deal with a couple of water wheel puzzles blocking the doors to reaching Tyr.
How To Solve Water Wheel Puzzles In The Applecore In God Of War Ragnarok
To solve the water wheel puzzles, players must use the Axe to freeze water, activating the wheels. There are three main puzzles that involve water wheels inside the Applecore mine. The first is encountered right after leaving Sindri’s Shop, the second is near a bridge after fighting two Draugr, and the third is after clearing some Soundstones and tightening up a loose rope to cross to the other side.
The First Water Wheel Puzzle
The first water wheel is considerably easier than the rest. So with a few God of War Ragnarok tips, players can solve it with ease. A couple of Soundstones will be blocking the water’s passage, thus leaving the wheel unmoving. To fix it, use the Axe to freeze the wooden trough right above the wheel, and then make Atreus shoot the Soundstones. This will activate the wheel, raising the claw from the water to swing to the other side.
The Second Water Wheel Puzzle
To solve the second water wheel puzzle, drop onto the ground below (to the right) and climb the chains to see the puzzle from another angle. At the end of the platform, use the Blades of Chaos and aim at the red circle to block the water.
Return to the bridge and freeze the trough right above the wheel to raise the claw. Upon crossing to the other side, turn right and freeze the water to activate the elevator.
The Third Water Wheel Puzzle
To get through the third water wheel, help Atreus climb up the ledge before moving all the way to the end of the bridge, allowing him to activate the mechanism from above. Now, follow these steps:
Use the Axe to freeze the left trough near the water wheel, moving the crate to the middle.
Ask Atreus to activate the mechanism that’ll drop a couple of Soundstones, keeping the wheel turning.
Call the Leviathan Axe and use it to freeze the water in the trough across, levitating a claw from the water. Use the claw to cross over and land on the crate.
Make Atreus destroy the Soundstones blocking the water in the first trough to move the crate closer to the door.
